Today we’re going to show you how to make a copycat version of the Verbena. Mariena Mercer, at the Chandelier bar in the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas created the original version, which uses a flower from the toothache plant.
This yuzu juice cocktail has some very interesting citrus ingredients and uses edible flowers. It’s topped off with a strange flower known as a buzz button, electric daisy, or Szechwan flower, which alters your taste buds and can even create a numbing effect. Calamansi juice and ginger syrup provide additional layers of flavor to the Verbena cocktail Cosmopolitan.

Verbena Cocktail Recipe from Chandelier Bar Cosmopolitan
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. (45 ml) Tequila
.75 oz. (20 ml) Yuzu Juice
.5 oz. (15 ml) Calamansi Juice Concentrate
1 oz. (30 ml) Ginger Syrup (I used Liber Ginger Syrup)
.5 oz. (15 ml) Simple Syrup
Buzz Button for garnish
Put all liquid ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Strain into an old fashioned glass and garnish with a buzz button.

Yuzu is one of my all time favorites. I fell in love with it at a Japanese restaurant in London (Umu) where I tried a yuzu sake. That was hands down the most amazing (and most expensive) meal I've ever had. We always keep a bottle of yuzu juice in the fridge for Asian-inspired cocktails. Keep up the great work with this channel!

Thanks! That sounds like an awesome experience! Speaking of pricey food and drinks, the Verbena drink is $18 at the Cosmopolitan. Last time I went there, I played video poker for an hour, and got a couple Verbenas for "free" (they cost two of the drink tickets that the video poker machines at the bar spit out as you play) I've noticed yuzu popping up at a lot more places lately. I wonder how hard it is to grow.

@@OneDrinkThreeBars I imagine the north Georgia and Tennessee winters would kill the yuzu, so you'd have to bring it inside or take some other steps to keep it alive. We want to try growing it once we get a heated greenhouse. We were at the Cosmopolitan 5 weeks ago. I wish I had known about this drink and tried it. There's always next time!

I just had this drink at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, before then had never heard of it.. A definite must try, the sensation is mind blowing. 👍

Awesome! Let me know how you like it! The buzz buttons go pretty well with any citrus based drink, in my experience.

I shot this over a month ago and I've been trying to act (just a little) more "bubbly" in the newer videos. I've lived my whole life not realizing how robotic I am. Filming yourself is so eye opening.

That sounds awesome! Can't wait for that video! I plan on revisiting this topic myself, as this is the first video I ever made for KZbin. I didn't even know if I'd post it because it was "just for practice." Well, of course my "worst video" as far as production value, etc. continues to get a steady stream of viewers each day! I grew 2 toothache plants in my yard and one in a pot this year, so I should have plenty of them to work with!
