when rie said “like sitting down at the table with grandma” when preparing the snow peas, i thought of the time when i used to help my grandma mash garlic in a mortar and pestle. being in a dominican family, you quickly learn that parents and grandparents born and raised in the dominican republic HATE using “new” things. so my maternal grandma, before she passed away, always refused to buy the pre-minced garlic. another story is my mom, who still to this day, refuses to buy that mop that wrings the water out, without destroying your hands in the process. she complains and complains, but never does anything about it

I would have fun with this because I already understand some Japanese and Spanish and I'll sometimes read recipes in those languages (and sometimes recipes in Portuguese too) and they usually turn out really good, so I'm confident that I'd do well, especially with Rie guiding me.
