She was right though. You’re giving a little kid something. They like simpler food, and most kids just love cupcakes. Rie’s is different textures, mint, and something a person probably 2-5 years older would begin to love way more. Simpler is sometimes better. Actually, Alix went well with the idea of the child, and he was a judge, so she won and that’s totally fine. If this were to be a competition for adults, Rie would win 100%. She made a better dessert and had a more sophisticated dish, but had the wrong target audience in mind. Alix’s dish was sloppy and very haphazardly made, but her strategy worked as the components she used would appeal to children. Both solid efforts 👌🏼

Rie caters better to adults, who'd appreciate the creativity and style, she's more experienced and holds a higher standard than Alix (no offense to Alix) Alix caters better to children, who like something simple and something familiar. Alix's decoration isn't as clean as Ries. So ultimately, Rie is the better chef. Alix beat her out in this one because she made something more familiar to the kid.
