I would definitely be wary about boxed sorrel, homemade is the best. There wasn't enough representation across the board but love seeing Giselle back. Such a great attitude. My favorite takeout is also stew chicken or fried chicken. I've given up on oxtail because not enough people make it the way I like, but it's too pricey now anyway.

Totally Agree!!! I'm from one of the islands they usually feature, but I agree! There are so many other islands I'd love to see represented. Grenada, Antigua, St Vincent, St Kitts, Barbados among others. So many precious Island cuisines. We're 1 Caribbean yet we prepare the same dishes very differently. A typical example is Callaloo.😂

When I use to eat meat cow foot dinner was my go to....nice and soft, season well, scrumptious and delicious. When I use to eat seafood, curry chrimp roti or curry shrimp dinner. Ackee and saltfish or Liver with batata (white sweet potato) boil dumplings and sweet boiled plaintain for breakfast. I loved the CheeZ Beef and veggie patty too. Love some of the sweets especially plantain tart, black cake, spice bun, carrot cake, cassava (yuca/yucca) pudding. Homemade/Homestyle carrot drink, pineapple ginger drink, homemade/homestyle sorrel or Jamaican ginger beer!!! 😋

As a Caribbean that’s not Jamaican I’d prefer the trini lady’s food in Barbados we have macaroni pie and it’s way better than average mac and cheese.Also me and my family don’t like ackee and saltfish😢

No, oxtail with rice and pea. Curry goat/curry anything with white rice or food(yaadie dem know). But you can eat it(I’ve eaten it) but traditionally it’s with white rice.

9.18: because it’s so quick & easy I wouldn’t order this… Me: 🤦🏾‍♀️We British sounding be’s so ungrateful for the skill used to cook these dishes to perfection. Especially Jamaicans; they’re seriously overlooked & slept on for having immaculate & highly detailed cooking skills. They blend strong flavours to perfection. Brown stew chicken is not easy to make. Perfect Jamaican dumplings are not easy to make. Rice & peas is also not easy to make. And I’m not a bad cook myself; but when I’m cooking these dishes & they fail to come out perfect as I’m used to buying or eating at my Mums; it’s then I have to give respect due & humble myself & enjoy this beauty & gift from God Ijn (to help warm their heart’s & distract from our slave trade past blues) in the form of food & realise I was ungrateful in my past. I see a lot of people in the comments confused about Anissa’s comments regarding the rice and peas. Traditionally in Jamaica white rice is served with Curry Goat, this isn’t a rule but typically how it is served. Another example of a dish typically served with white rice is Stew Peas. Would I personally order Curry goat with rice and peas? No, as that is not a combination my taste buds are used to? but if I was given it by someone, would I still box it down? Yes, yes I would.
