This has to be one of the most wholesome of the investigations. Normally when I rewatch these old episodes I feel at least a little spooked but it’s sweet having a man’s spirit be able to listen to his favorite music and little kids petting the dog. I miss these old episodes so much.

I mean, a nurse who seems to respond when someone asks for help, a tall man who loves opera and asked for their names in a shy manner ("What's your... names?"), kids who were shy to pet the dog yet did it when there was no one around (aka kids being curious), and this unnamed ghost all seem like they just chillin' in the afterlife.

Honestly, kudos to Ryan, I don't believe in ghosts, spirits, or demons, but the idea of being locked in a poorhouse/asylum where so much concentrated suffering FOR SURE took place, while the wind was howling like it was the end of days??? My brain would have melted in there. Absolutely not. I would never have done it, and I don't even believe! Can't even comprehend the bravery that took.

I live near by Rolling Hills Asylum. I remember one of the prior owners was a retired farmer who sold his farm to purchase this building and was restoring old coach wagons in the basement. He was a friendly bearded man, his wife as well, and enjoyed talking about the building and his plans for the future. He gave me and the family a tour of the whole building as well as the large underground tunnel. He showed us how he hooked up a milk truck, to hold and supply water to the building. He started renting space for small shops inside to help financially run it. There was a Mennonite family who made wonderful baked goods, and a little restaurant that was (was) set up so cute. I really enjoyed going there about once a week. There was an Amish store there that sold beautiful handmade items where I bought a highchair there, bench table and a bachelors stool. There was also a very nice kite shop there and they would demonstrate outside how to use there specially made kites (bought one). He did a lot of work on the building. (It is sad to see how the building looks now) He had informed me that he had done dry wall in the house I live in. Small world. I remember going there when Mrs. Carlson purchased the building as well as lived in the main house on the property right next door with her family. She continued having the small shops in there selling their wear. She also was a girl scout leader and my daughter attended the meetings there. Mrs. Carlson did research on the building and turned it into a hunted business. The upkeep went down after that. The little shops just couldn't make it there being so far from any large populated towns and cities. I find it interesting that owner(s) new and past, turned it into a more haunted Asylum then when I walked through it so many times years ago. Oh the memories.
