Props to the staff member for holding his ground and stepping up. " He probably got paid minimum wage...and he didn't run. He stayed there to point people to the direction of an exit". Fight or flight..and the guy chose to fight the only way he could by helping others to safety. A freakin' hero IMO.

my elementary school played a game called „gravity attack.“ a teacher would yell „gravity attack“ and we would all down on the ground as of the gravity pulled us down there. it was their innocent way of teaching us how to protect ourselves from guns. i hate that our schools have to do this. i hate it.

Kacie's mom is incredibly strong. If her mom was hysterical on the phone over her babies being in the middle a shooting, imagine how much worse these women would have felt in their unimaginably tense, and scary situation. Although I'm sure her mother was fighting back all her strong emotions of fear, she held it together and remained supportive over the phone offering whatever sense of comfort she could. It makes me tear up just thinking about it.

I remember having a lot of weird and angry feelings while visiting a family. Something was off, but I couldn't put my finger on it. It is why we get those feelings. We notice something, but we don't fully understand what we noticed. In that family the dad hit his children. He acted very friendly and open, but he was abusive and controlling I learned later. It is weird how we pick up those hints
@KateCarew

MissMoontree we really do, and I tell my kids all the time that our inner voice, our Jiminy Cricket always tells us what we need to hear and if we don’t listen that voice will go silent then we are LOST. I remind my 16 year old that if she gets a vibe or gut instinct follow it, that I’ll always come get her and even if she’s afraid she’s going to miss out on fun it’s not worth your safety. So you were wrong and everting was fine? Awesome for the others but if your guts were right it’s better to high tail it and be grateful your instincts are so honed. Of course she never tells me things until a while later but she’s dodged some bad scenes and I hope we all remind ourselves to leave when we know we should.

I think these segments are really human you know? Its easy to do these mysterious and quirky true crime episodes but the down low is that the foundation of true crime tends to be painful and traumatic. It’s a good reminder that true crime isn’t fictional and how we should approach these topics so that we can inform others while still being respectful towards those who are victimized by these acts.

I guess the answer is try to stay calm in any situation so you can try to make the best decision in a situation where there is a lot of stress to fight or flight. This recounting of the mass shooting reminds of our current virus situation but a dragged out version...you know there's a danger but it's location is unknown and different people are telling you different "right" things to do and spreading "facts" that may or may not be true. In any case, you try to weed out the wrong facts and make the best decision in the best time. And of course, many things are out of our control. So i just mentally prepare myself for whatever outcome comes because there is no point in trying to control what you cannot.

I know if I make a choice to do something and it makes me feel instantly sick like that then I back up and do not go that direction. This is scary, poor thing I can’t imagine the fear. My cousin and her husband were going to go to this but my cousin said she just didn’t feel right about it so they ended up on the strip when the shots rang out so they bolted to their hotel and were held there for 72 hours after it happened. They used to go to Vegas once a year, they haven’t been back since.

I decided to go to a d&d session rather than meet a friend from out of town at the festival. I was less than a mile away... I return to work to my manager at his desk, an open bottle of whiskey in hand, and he looked up to me and in the most broken voice said, "I have to explain to my 6 year old that his little league coach and my best friend had his head blown off." My friend was one of the people who went back in during the firing to drag people back out. My friend who invited me was nearly trampled on the sidewalk. This event changed the lives of every single one of us.... Edit: Thank you all so much for the kind words and well wishes. I was lucky to just have stories. My friends were the ones who still suffer every day from what they saw, and I really appreciate the empathy.

@@frickincarrie3475 So the point is to have our rights stripped because of empathy? Why no empathy for people trying to defend themselves from violence and tyranny? Of of course you only feel empathy for one side because of your brainwashed views. Why is it always women trying to take our best means of self defense when they benefit the most from it? I'll never understand that. Another point; you think taking something away will stop people from hurting or killing one another? So say you magically strip all guns from the US and people start stabbing each other instead. What now? Take all knives away? People start using cars to run people over because knives are gone. What do you do? Ban all vehicles? Vehicles are gone now. People start using common household chemicals to build bombs and start blowing other people up. Do we ban everything? Get the point? Stop thinking with emotion and start using logic if you're even capable of it. I highly doubt you are.
