They showed us the definition of masculine...
@theejcookproductions8 жыл бұрын
easy. by being more expressive and outspoken with sincere gestures you're giving out more information for people to judge you on, thus less mysterious/less chase/less power. If you're wondering "how less power?" the answer to that is: Many girls who notice men to be sweeter and expressive know they can sideline them as insurance just in case their attempt at another 'more resistant' man falls through. Bottom line: too much, too soon makes for a dull relationship. Also women like men in power. Overly expressive men tend to know things last compared to others who sit back and listen and play it wise/cool.
@theejcookproductions8 жыл бұрын
they are just terms, but they are indeed fundamentally linked to gender. Whether you want to believe it or not. it's evolution: one gender is naturally more feminine/masculine than the other.
@DReamBig24948 жыл бұрын
Masculinity and femininity are defined and created by society. This is why in other cultures we see women being able to take on more "musculine" (to us) roles easily, and men acting or appearing more "feminine" by our standards.
@inspirationworks83578 жыл бұрын
Not this woman. I believe that kindness and gentleness are the truest expressions of strength. I want to know who you *are,* not who you want people to *think* you are. I have only "sidelined" a nice guy once in my life ... and it wasn't for any kind of back up plan or insurance or anything having to do with him. It was my lousy self-esteem that was a result of a very verbally abusive father -- including telling me that "no decent man will ever want you" when I was a teenager -- and I was scared that this guy would discover how "unworthy" I was (based in false beliefs) and he would leave *me* once he did. I am glad that I am not like those women you write about and I find *real* people to be courageous and refreshing. Namaste

I think the issue here is our definition of masculine. The things that were considered "less masculine" in this video are things I would consider to be very mature and thus masculine.
@Markd3158 жыл бұрын
I mean you're wrong. Traditional masculinity comes down to how vibrantly and openly you express your emotions. I'm stoic. Dealing with your emotions in any way that doesn't hurt other people is mature and acceptable, it's what works for you. There were a few cases outside of that in the vid where the MTM one was more openly rude, aggressive or uncaring, but those aren't really the same thing. Those ones specifically are examples of anthropological masculinity gone toxic by people who were raised in a way in which they failed to grasp the real undercurrents of gender normality. instead conforming to the violent, unempathetic figures they grew up under. You'll notice the audience rejected those instances as being unattractive... Gender norms are going to take a long time to change if they ever do. They're partially rooted in biology.
@charityshi99108 жыл бұрын
"Masculinity" in anthropology and psychology have a pretty different meaning than our daily language (and so do many other terminology). And I believe it's hard to find a reasonable person in real life being overwhelmingly masculine or feminine by academics' definition.

I dont think male attraction works the same way... Man considers the way a woman looks more than anything. Dont know about you, but I would definitely go with laid back girl, cheerful one, slutty one, timid one, doesnt matter as long as she is hot. Of course its different if I were considering relationship, but in terms of sexual attraction, there is very few deal breakers for me. Maybe lesbians would have more to say about their attraction to female model, that could be interesting.

I think that was why though. If both sides are typically physically attractive, your answers should only be based on how he acted. Like a control for the experiment. If he was average-looking not everyone would be interested and it would affect their choices.
@Cutegirl123168 жыл бұрын
i agree with sandra. once i took in how attractive he was haha i focused more on his actions and personality rather than his physical appearance. although, that may be because i don't go crazy over how "attractive" someone is and it's not what wins me over...
@movingforward95558 жыл бұрын
The experiment will change because if he was less attractive girls would want the friendlier version as to know he is not a killer or worst, since we stupidly tend to equate attractiveness with goodness. Even courts in a study were found to give a less severe sentence to good looking people. In other words pretty men can get away with being more masculine and not come off as intimidating.
@katsam44578 жыл бұрын
yea I think they're trying to help inform men what other men/women find attractive so they could adjust their behavior. The problem is if you're genetically lucky with your looks, dating is easy. That guy doesn't have to put any effort in. He walks up to any woman and just says "Hi" and that works 95% of the time. He puts any pic on a dating website, and he'll get 100s of responses easy. But if an average guy does everything right, he still loses out over a good looking man who treats people like assholes. That guy could beat a woman and women still respond positively. Look at Chris Brown.

From my experience... When meeting a woman for the first time, typically being that masculine strong figure brings them in and over time you can open up and be more emotional because it's seen as progress and they feel like they are the reason you are able to open up On the flip side... Starting out as that too emotionally available figure comes off as unattractive and you end up being viewed more as a friend. Not trying to be disrespectful but I know women SAY they like that emotionally available guy but if you dont give off a masculine "I got this" , impression...good luck. But hey different strokes for different folks I guess

I agree. I find it a bit overwhelming if a guy is opening up emotionally to me right away, since it takes me a while to open up and build trust. And I know a lot of girls won’t admit it but I’m not ashamed to admit that I do prefer it when a man takes control and gives off an “I got this” vibe.

***** I didn't look into the technicalities of experimentation man. No one should ever look that deep into a BuzzFeed video (they dont even look that damn deep into their videos). I was just pointing out that they had more than one side and used outside sources for survey in this one. Instead of it just being them asking 5 people that work for them what they like, they took it to the Internet and got viewers opinion then actually used the results in the video. Which is wayy more effort than BuzzFeed as ever put into anything else.

I regret to say: What makes a man attractive to over 90% of women ? MONEY .. MONEY .. MONEY .. MONEY .. MONEY .. MONEY .. MONEY .. MONEY !
@THEDOORIZCLOSED8 жыл бұрын
lol Not at all. I wrote out a list and most of it was intellect, care, good health, creativity and a great family
@elleygray027768 жыл бұрын
And no doubt, your ''?LIST'?' was both politically-correct and diplomatic, but not reality. However let's refer to the flip-side, ie ''Divorce'' whereupon a great many women have no qualms about taking their Husband for everything including the clothes on his back, and indeed, the children too: albeit to use as leverage ....... Now tell me I'm wrong!
@THEDOORIZCLOSED8 жыл бұрын
stewart william no, my list comes from my heart. I wrote it when I was 19 years old. I mean you can "grade" it all you want like you think u know me, but at the end of the day it's what *I* want and it's exactly who I have attracted. I've never been divorced, but I don't believe in taking everything including the children bc women are "more nuturing" and "every child needs his mother". That's BS to me. Listen, I have two brothers. I'm more sympathetic to men than you realize.
@THEDOORIZCLOSED8 жыл бұрын
+stewart william originally your idea was that all women marry for money. I;m simply explaining to you Im not, and neither are several of my family members or friends bc we all have done well for ourselves and realize money isn;t everything but the intellect and creativity behind it IS. My mom recently turned down a retired NFL player bc she didn't agree with him morally/spiritually and he had erratic behavior and was overly emotional--though he made TONS of money. I;m nearly thirty years old and my opinion has not changed. you can write several paragraphs about what you *think* you know about me personally, but honestly you are wasting your time. my comment stands: I don;t want a man for his money. never have, never will. unless you can prove otherwise based on a fact you know about *me* and not other women, then it's best to just not reply tbh
@elleygray027768 жыл бұрын

Wtf are you talking about. Sexist allert? A woman can talk for herself. And if you dont know what you want thats not because you have a vagina or penis, its simply the indecisiveness of a human being which can have serval reason (havent learned the right way to decide yet, was never expected to decide something big (outside factors), not enough information, too much choice, social conditioning as well as upbringing (be passive, not active), too young (ask a 4 year old to make a difficult decision and he will rather lack to understand the question or doesnt feel like he can decide), or maaany other reason. I've learned that everybody has a standard for physical appearance. This standard is used to evaluate how clean-cut and attractive you are, and whether or not you should be interacted with. If you fail to meet these standards, the person(s) you're showing interest in will internally dismiss you before you can get a word out. After learning this, I realized that my appearance is essentially the key to the gateway of the social world. It only get's more complicated from there. Socializing is in no way simple. It's one of the most complex and essential skills that I feel everybody should learn.

I think the "less masculine" version was always the better one. Just a nicer person to spend time with, someone you actually can connect with on a deeper level. Outside top & inside top. Jackpot!

@@djandreal Well females are attracted to physically attractive men ...Just like men to women? Best combination is to be nice and hot. Character and looks matter. For sure character is always more important for a good relationship.

This should be titled "which type of verbal and nonverbal communication in a limited social setting makes a man seem more attractive without any additional context?" because that's all this is. There are more issues that go into determining attractiveness than what is presented in this video.
