Friday evening, BVFD was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire with possible entrapment. The caller was initially reporting the residence to be fully engulfed with two people possibly inside, and other residences being endangered. The call was then upgraded to a working fire bringing automatic aid companies to the scene. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a double wide mobile home with heavy fire showing throughout. Firefighters quickly deployed multiple handlines and went to work. The fire was marked under control approximately one hour after fire department arrival. No injuries were reported on scene, and the residence was reportedly abandoned at the time of the fire. The cause remains under investigation at this time. BVFD responded with five apparatus, 12 personnel, and were on scene for three hours. Southwest Lee County Volunteer Fire Department, EAMC ETS, Lee County Emergency Management Agency, and Lee Count Sheriffs Office also responded to the scene.
