Man I live in the Caribbean we have sun, sand and the beautiful sea but when I see bit and piece of America in movies, shows, KZbin videos I am truly envious Americans have a truly majestic country, imagine growing up in a small town with a mountain like that in your back yard those long winding country roads perfect for Sunday drive after church camping out with the family and don't talk about Winter the snow I never being to the US but if I did would rather a small quiet sleepy town with a great view and open fields like this
@Baribrotzer5 жыл бұрын
It's in Buchanan, VA, which is near Roanoke, VA., on US-11; the James River goes through town. The mountain is NW of Buchanan, and North of where I-81 crosses the James River. While it doesn't seem to have a name in itself, Appalachian mountains are usually part of long ridges, and those ridges may have names. It might be called Greyledge, though - there's a road and a community near there called that - but I don't know for sure.

l love your emercency line on your motorways/highways. In Germany or Thailand they haven't so much free space. In Germany is right sometimes an emercency lane for vehicles in trouble, but this line is 2/3 or 3/4 smaller as the normal line. For big fire apparatus too small!

United States interstate standards are for a 9-foot shoulder the Main travel lanes are 12 foot, so it is smaller but still big enough.

Typical of a volunteer unit. There is a bare minimum crew to drive the truck the rest are at work when a call goes so they drive a personal vehicle to the scene or get picked up on the way. Problem With these type of Departments is no budget for a full time crew. But Volunteer Departments are older then History.
@paulwilliams85555 жыл бұрын
VOLUNTEERS.
@extraslayar45855 жыл бұрын
@@chrisowen2925 my departments policy is the truck can leave if there's a captain, or a Lt. With at least two FF. Or if it's been more than 5 minutes from the initial tone then who ever there goes. But once a truck is rolling they do not stop to pick people up unless still in the apron. Other than that guys show up on scene unless it's a highway.
@chrisowen29255 жыл бұрын
@@extraslayar4585 That is the DEFINITION of a volunteer. If the department had full-time staff then it would not be a volunteer house. In the Big City, there are typically 3 engines and a bus in the house. Men / Woman, are there to staff the apparatus 24/7/365. They even have sleeping bunks and a kitchen in the house. Volunteers sleep at home and have a real job get calls and if they can make it to the house jump on the truck or get picked up en route. I know a friend that is a captain for a volunteer department in Tool Tx population 150. Obviously, they do not have a full staff department just sitting waiting for a fire or other accident. Many times they will have one person very close to the Engine since you need that apparatus at every scene. If you can't make it to the house you have to go to the scene.

Stupid question: vehicles that have air brakes (such as this truck) have systems that bleed the air out as a matter of function. Is there a set up to maintain air pressure in the system or do you have to wait for the pressure to build up? (I realize this is a completely irrelevant question to the video. My curiosity just got the better of me.)
@randomized42665 жыл бұрын
When you start a truck with empty air tanks you have to wait for it to have enough air pressure before it can even release the brakes. The tanks are constantly being refilled while the truck is running. The trucks hold enough air that it doesn't run out of air. I assume if one continuously pressed the brakes the air would run out and then you'd have to wait again. Hope that answered the question.
