I have watched soooo many fire companies show up at a working fire unprepared. I love that these folks were ready, had a plan and went to it. Having your SCBA ON when you arrive is key to an aggressive attack and quick knockdown. The guys are well trained.

Great response guys & gals. Glad to see the PPE already where it needs to be when these guys get off the truck. You do need air for a truck fire. The chemicals in that smoke will kill you. I thought the same as Jeff on the placement of the truck. At first it was like No !!. After seeing situation better, it was a safe & convenient place to stop as there was the frontage road that ran along 81 for directing traffic. It got the crew close to the semi, but also provided safety distance in case of explosions.

As far as I see everyone in this video did? Are you referring to oncoming traffic? There is no need for them to pull over since there are no oncoming vehicles ahead of the fire engine. Maybe the ones near crossroads or turnings could have slowed down or stopped.

Considering that the trailer trucks cab is what caught fire, I hope the driver of the truck is okay, as this video doesn't mention that, plus some of you commenters seem more impressed by the way the fire trucks new siren sound is than the well being of the driver of the truck that caught fire, and while I agree the siren sound is cool, it makes more sense to worry about the well being of the driver of the other truck don't you think? Just saying is all. 🙄

Can I ask a question? If you have that man calls and see the smoke why do you wait to go scene before you ask dispatch to start rolling a tanker(s)? Our dispatcher was toning us us out, getting us rolling then drop a second tone for tanker support 3 minutes later. We also never had a single tanker rolling, we always had at least 2 or more always rolling with us. Maybe it's just the way we operate and train just seemed a little slow and disorganized. But seriously good knock down 👌 👍✌️

G. R. Probably because in certain situations you can create a shitload of steam and cook yourself with it, especially in structural fires, we called it getting steam killed.
@g.r.4853
@g.r.4853 4 жыл бұрын
@@Canadiancoinguy Probably my teachings are outdated, I took EF over 30 years ago when I was bright eyed and young, but our "policy, teachings" was the fog goes in first, the fire fighter follows when he can almost see through the white. I followed a nozzle a time or two in my 30+ years got more "heat hurts" from the "event" than steam. Apparently I never came across one of those certain situations and frankly am not sorry I missed one. I understand the shitload of steam and sometimes the damn things are so hot S&R is hopeless thus so is entry. I also am a volunteer in a village/rural area with little warehouse/industrial activities. But frankly, I am still a advocate of fog initial attacks.
@jamesluck2969
@jamesluck2969 4 жыл бұрын
@@g.r.4853 for a structure it makes sense to have fog go first. Although I've always been told by the current men that no one uses it because of the steam issue. Only time I've seen a crew using fog was to do a wet down, or exposure prevention.
@g.r.4853
@g.r.4853 4 жыл бұрын
@@jamesluck2969 Times change as do SOGs. What really gets to me is watching a deck gun or sometimes a manned line shooting directly over a fire doing as much good as a rain storm. Our department (vol) instituted an ops "observer" to stand back and redirect that error (often our car 3, unless doing tanker ops or first mutual aid chief). They will often order the aerial to fog. Either way it is not nor will be my decision,only opinion. Thanks for the input and especially the civil tone
