I drilled holes in the seat a little higher up than the original holes for water bottles, and I can remove the seat with the water bottle cages still attached. Also, I can access the moose pack with the bottles where they are now.

I had a round bottle cage on the bottom of the bar for a long while. You can also just cut off the bottle stop tab on the cage and let the bottle push through and rest against the steering post. I removed the bottle from that region and replaced with two aero bottles under the seat and one on the carbon box behind the headrest. I use the moose bag with an iPhone 7+ also but put my excessive road repair kit in the carbon box. Moose bag is getting quite close to the rear wheel so I am going to persuade it to stay put with a sticky Velcro arrangement. I use Speedplay Zero cleats and find them easy to click into once you stop looking at them and just let your feet figure it out. I just put a road bike handlebar on the bike with the drops mostly cut off. I did that for speed to bring my arms in against my body and eliminate the body skin drag associated with an open arm versus arms against the body configuration. Just finished a 12 mile TT segment that Larry is running and my time improved by 1/2 mph or 2.2% which is encouraging since it is the first use of the new (actually original bar from my Giant DF bike) handlebar. I don't suggest going too far from the V20 original handlebar for a while because there are tricks your body has to incorporate that take time and the original bar is much easier and more stable.

What tires do you use? Are they puncture resistant?
@brauljo3 жыл бұрын
Wow it sucks that the Tannus tires didn't work out for you, I've got them on my recumbent but I've never ridden it with pneumatic tires. So I'm not really sure what the difference is for me.
@robappleby5833 жыл бұрын
Pneumatic tyres are more efficient - i.e. have lower rolling resistance - than solid tyres. I haven't tried the Tannus tyres but there's a reason solid tyres have not enjoyed much success.

@@robappleby583 Yeah they're slower, less comfortable, and come in limited sizes. But they're not terrible.

That's not an SPD pedal. I have SPD pedals (mostly used by mountainbikers) and I really like them. Mine have the pedal clip on one side and it's flat on the other, so I can pedal without clipping in.
@bwalker6425 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry, actually aren’t they called SPD-SL pedals. The reason I like them so much is how they hang when you clip in. It makes it much easier since you already have a lot going on when starting off on the Cruz bike. I have been considering the SPD versions. Would really be nice to not have to put on cleat protectors or change shoes when you stop for a while.

@@bwalker642 Shimano makes the PD-EH500 pedal that has the clip on one side and a flat piece for regular shoes on the other side. They are weighted so the flat side is always facing forward when you aren't clipped in, making it super easy to choose either side you want to use in a hurry. I use them on my road bike with MB shoes and they are very convenient.

my local bike shop told me that Orange seal is superior to stans, iv have great results with orange seal sealent!

?? My neighbor had the orange stuff. He said it kept drying up, and had such a bad experience, he gave up tubless. I have Stan's. I was having trouble with my back tire losing air. I got the syringe and a big bottle of Stans. Put 2 extra ounces in, and no problems since.

Does your moose bag interfere with your rear brakes?
@bwalker6425 жыл бұрын
The brake cable did shift the back of the bag over a bit and is touching, but I haven’t experienced any issues with brake function. I know I have packed that thing as full as I could get it and still didn’t have any issues.
