Yea man! He’s back! Good to see you again. Isn’t it a weird feeling how you have to put 100% of your energy into setting your embouchure before you even play, after having established a new setting, and then you have to play some music. I know exactly what you’re going through. I remember the good old days when I used to put the horn on my face and blow and not even think about it! Ha ha! Hope all is well with you and yours.

Yeah those days are done, Jeff. ;) or...maybe they'll be back around. Right? RIGHT?!?

Thanks for putting the lead charts together for 50 something comeback players with no street cred like myself. I had never heard of the Terry Gibbs Dream Band until I saw it on your blog. Great stuff. I picked up the book. Now I just need to find all of the CDs or digital music.

hahaha - street cred. You're old-school BTB, Gary. ;) I repurchased all the cd's used on amazon when I did the book (for the liner notes). Most came from half-priced books in Dallas. thanks for chiming in!

Very cool. I've been doing a very similar embouchure adjustment. Weird at the start but once it sets in everything is better. What's the horn you're playing?

I hear ya. It's a yamaha 8310z. Great horn, had it for, oh I dunno, 5-6 years now?

Happy Easter! I was waiting long time for a new video from You! Great stuff as always! Thanks so much! Have you ever messed arround with some Reinhardt pivot ideas? Don't you think that trying to play more "symmetrical" might be something against the current nature of your dental structure ? I mean according to many grates like Leen Nicholson, Jerry Franks , George Rawlin the most natural way for the air to escape out of our mouths is those teeth which are the most protruding or sticking out. And those naturally are suggesting the placing that provides the most air out so to say. Not sure if I'm very clear hear with my English :) but would be curious to hear what you think. All the best!

Hey there, thanks for the remark and checking out the video. For myself, I've made embouchure changes from the perspective of a) physical comfort, and b) the sound is warmer and more connected from note to note. After that the range comes along. BTW, I love the Reinhardt stuff, that was a big help for me. Thanks again and be well, James
