Shu Yu Qi is not a strong player and he also on the downside of his prime by age. Axelsen was also losing to Kunvalut in championship finals - also not a strong player. Last time Viktor faces strong players was Momota, LCW and CL - he has a 19% winrate against them.

Shi is underrated, his career happened to coincide with prime Momota first and then prime Axelsen, as the result he doesn’t have major tournament wins like WC or Olympic gold. But he is a very good player.

Looking at the quality of the Men's Singles players currently in the circuit, I don't think LZJ is anywhere near close to being good AND consistent enough to challenge the big guns. SYQ was banned for a whole year from all tournaments after that stunt he pulled, and yet he's now back to being one of the best - there's a hunger behind his cool demeanor. LZJ on the other hand just doesn't look like he wants it enough. So much for going independent, it's gotten him nowhere.
