I understand that you prefer more acrobatic vocals, but he explains in Tiny Desk that his goal for the album was to 'evoke a sense of fleeting tranquility, as if they effortlessly pass by and offer a soothing pause'. There's an intention behind the way he sang on this album. He prefers to experiment with music rather than show off his status as a pop star. Taehyung (also known as V) is indeed a very complex artist who favors soulful and jazzy music. He is a true musician, and he doesn't care too much about commercial music (just like RM). Even Jon Batiste, who knows him and spends time with him, admits that V's passion for music has inspired him.

When the guys were first starting out they went to the USA to learn about hiphop culture it was all filmed for a show called American Hustle Life. There was a segment where they had to improve their skills and V was one of the ones selected to have lessons with teacher Iris Stevenson. She said what we all knew about our V in a few mins of hearing him sing, she said "Ohh keep him, people feel something when he sings" He's very soulful is our Tae :)

You must check out V's live versions of his solo songs - Singularity and Stigma " LIVE" . V has the widest vocal range in the group and for a baritone, he is able to match the high notes of the tenors in the group. He has one of the most versatile vocal tones and effects like his growling. RM has said that V can sing any genre, he is that versatile. You're going to love the tiny desk. V is a musicians musician. V is a very unique soul. He is so different from the rest of the members. He is an outside of the box thinker and has been referred as genius by some of the members. Music is what makes him live. V has the widest vocal range in the group. He just wanted to give a laid back album to his fans. Taehyung didn’t want to make it too complicated to prove that good music can be simplistically beautiful. He is considered the most handsome man in the world since 2017 til now and is extremely popular all over the world outside BTS. Rm has stated along with other members that V was the one that made them popular outside of Korea. He attended Paris fashion week for CELINE and the crowd was massive and crazy nothing ever seen before there at a CELINE event and last year he went to Japan to promote a CELINE store and the crowds were unbelievably huge. Many artist study his music and stage performances,dancing. He has the most viewed fans cams ever and when he does dance challenges he has almost always the most views so definitely he can dance. Many say he was born to be an Idol and has the true title of IDOL of Idols. You should check out VLOG DRIVE by V on YT when you have time. It is a tiny glimpse of who he is and his eclectic love for music. He does the SMOKE dance challenge by Bada Lee and it’s incredible. He gave his fans a lot of content to enjoy before he went to the military from many live stage performances, appearances in variety shows, game show appearances, TV series on Disney and Prime, and so on… While being in BTS he is the only member to win awards for his songs, dancing, and acting all together. Now we are just waiting for him to finish his special forces training in Korean Army, where he also won an award during training. He has a lot in store for fans when he gets out. His music is pure vibe, very artistic as well, very classy. I told you he is a bit of an eccentric and definitely an old soul. 😜💜 There is a video of him when they had concerts in Vegas going into jazz club and dancing his socks off. He was probably the youngest person there 🤣 He is a great dancer, and he is very charismatic on stage. Younger idols learn from him as he has an uncanny ability to find fan cams and stare directly into them. And would you believe that out of all BTS boys he is serving in the one of the toughest military units right now (counter-terrorism) and he especially applied to get there. We've seen pics, you would not recognise him in all the gear. 😂 He still looks stunning though.💜💜💜

He sang it before as a Christmas gift without any bells and whistles he sings "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas". You should watch that first and "Le Jazz de V" after it. He loves Bing Crosby. It brought me back to my parents listening to Bing and watching Bing's Christmas Special when I was growing up. "Stigma" live will reel you in. "Singularity" live is an amazing piece of art. Tae got officially designated to the dance line in 2018 because of that performance. I really love every solo song he's ever done, like Iris Stevenson said "You have a wonderful voice. Keep him, he's soulful. People feel something when you sing. Keep going". I'm curious if you know who she was.

Taehyung is an old soul, maybe because he was raised by his grandma. 😊 He learned how to play sax before being BTS. He loves to listen to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, etc. About being musicians, all the seven have developed all the aspects of being one. I mean, nowadays, they all are not just singers or rappers, but composers, songwriters, and producers. And, all of them are dancers. Oh! I forgot to say that you can watch his "Le jazz de V", too. For his debut album, V chose songs "that evoke a sense of fleeting tranquility, as if they effortlessly pass by and offer a soothing pause" as he mentioned in his Tiny Desk concert (I think you need to turn the captions on manually). He is partial to songs that envelope you like a warm blanket and offer comfort., so vocal calisthenics aren't really his style. He knows the kind of artist he wants to be and sticks to it as closely as his label allows, even tho his songs aren't as commercial as the others.

Interesting to hear your commentary. You're right...V is very much an over thinker when it comes to his solo music. And yes, he knows his music. He enjoys all kinds of music from all different eras, especially jazz and the "old" stuff from the 40s/50s/60s. His style is quite different as a soloist than the other members of BTS. I absolutely love it. One thing I truly adore is that he allows his band to shine very brightly and gives the music time to breathe and gives you time to sit with the music and song.

Hi Frankie! Unfortunately you didn't have subtitles, but V said exactly what you said. Layover is an album to listen to when you're coming home. In the car. On a peaceful trip. V listens to various musical styles in his lives, including musicians from my country, Brazil. Well, in Le Jazz De V, if you can, you will hear a totally different voice, in my opinion. And yes, Stigma. Singularity. There is a live performance by BTS, with the vocal line rapping, DDAENG. His voice, once again, different from that soft, deep voice. V also plays the saxophone and other instruments. In the comments, some haters said negative things about him. Unnecessary. If you don't like him, leave. Oh! but they're haters, I forgot. But that's what I tell you, watch his performances (and the other members, obviously). And draw your own conclusions. I don't know what you mean by saying that you didn't enjoy his singing because he doesn't do acrobatics in the performance. Well, RM's vocals are good, but not necessarily acrobatic. Suga relays on Woosung (The Rose's vocalist) in his Snooze. Jhope also has a beautiful singing voice but isn't grandiose per se. As for the vocal line, everyone knows that V is a baritone and JK, Jin, and Jimin are tenors. Meaning they can sing higher than V, but V has more range, a solid falsetto, and the most beautiful lower tone. JK is versatile and stable; Jin has an impressive belting; and Jimin gravitates in the higher tones but struggles in the lower range. So, if you want to compare BTS's members music based on their vocal capabilities, at least be fair and use the same criteria for all of them.
