By Far The Simplest And Best Way To Groom Guppies!

When I was breeding guppies, I found that the best way to condition the males, like you, was to separate them into separate habitats (I used small display tanks, not bottles, but they have the same idea,) and change the water religiously. Good food, good parent stock are also important, but what some people don't realise is that with guppy males, the dominant, largest male will release hormone into the water which will not only slow the development of the other males in the tank with him, but also stunt his own development. That is why either space (a pond with lots of water will minimize this effect) or single habitats and lots of daily fresh water changes are the most important things. Also, if you don't separate males from female early enough, you may get inbreeding. In the guppy world, they also have what is know as a 'sneaker male.' It has dull colours, like a female, a pointy anal fin that looks more like that of a female, rather than a guppy's male appendage, called a gonopodium. His colours and development is nothing near as good as the largest or even any of the other more developed males in the tank, but if he is mistakenly put in with the females during sexing, he will impregnate all of them! And genetically, this may not be the best for your breeding program! So if in doubt, put an uncertain, maybe-female with the males. Better you get one or two females pregnant, rather than letting a genetically inferior male impregnate all of the females in your tank.

@@TanjimTamim-gh8td I keep them apart, so that female is bigger before she first becomes pregnant. Better for her that she is not pestered and stressed by the males, while she is still young. When they are ready for breeding, I find that two or three females with one male is best, as one-to one pairing is too much for the females and sometimes they turn on the male. When more females are around, they can stand his constant attention better.

May I ask Albert about the grooming bottles, can i put floating plants in it? Like water lettuce on top? And if there are algae growing should i remove it or not? Or it will give them cover from the sunlight, and daily water change or weekly?

Mine ate it, depending on the type of the algae. Algae can also take sunlight from any floating plants, which then rotted and fouled the water, taking oxygen out of the water, so I removed algae, if the guppies didn't eat it.

Ang trait po galing sa parents yan genetically, Groom or not. However kung gi.nroom mo maayus ung guppy, mas gaganda pa yan. Malaki po ang ambag ng gene sa parents kaysa sa groom. Kung pangit ang gene ng parents, less po ang chance na gaganda sila pag nag groom ka..

Because the bigger the fish, the larger the habitat. Do you have any idea how many LARGE aquariums are needed to breed and sell Oscars? The best Arowanas are bred in outdoor ponds. Maybe Albert doesn't have that kind of space?
