Cause that's what the script says, there's even a series where Park Bo Young is the ugly one. And there's the "everyone is beautiful in their own way" then at the end of the day they won't be able to hire anybody. So it's acceptable to just get a girl who doesn't meet the beauty standard to dub as ugly.

It still kind of dissolves the entire point because he only got to like her when he went on dates and stuff with her , had fun only under the condition that she looked like his "dreamgirl", ofcourse later when he had developed an attachment, then he started feeling stuff and the rest of story .She also knows about his superficial attitude but she falls in "love" with him and not someone less handsome compared to him , doesn't that make her same type of person who she dislikes . A better plot could have been that the ring was metaphorical and just she imagined she looked like the model girl but in reality she was just herself but more confident and open which attracted the ML towards her. I hate this trope when the nerdy one falls in love with someone without knowing them well but just because they are gorgeous and charming, their attraction is superficial but when the same "popular" one rejects them on the same terms , they become the "jerk" , like bro you knew about their rude behaviour beforehand but you were still excusing that shit because they were physically attractive but now they don't find those qualities in you , so you are gonna blame them , fate and what not for not getting what you desired .
