BYD blade (V1) is the best battery so far in my Tesla Y SR MiG. Had others before, no LR NCM battery can compete. Tesla will use new CATL LFP in 2025, lets wait how they will perform. So far the BYD blade changed so many things. Cheaper, faster charging, no winter penalty and charging 3C no matter what SoC you plug in, thats a game changer

Yep, I have a V1 126S1P LFP blade cell battery in my two year old Atto3. As of now no sign at all of deterioration (capacity actually went up 5% over first twelve months). So very happy. If after ten years shows some deterioration I am hopeful there will be an option of a V2 (or V3) battery as a drop in replacement if I decide to keep the car.

Well had a 2022 Kia EV6 with a non LFP battery, and when it went in for its service last month, the battery is still 100% battery health. Not bad for almost 3 years.. Now some batteries do degrade faster even between the same battery chemistries as I saw a 2021 Tesla Model 3 with that so-called superior LFP, but its battery health had dropped to 85%! It's probably not a BYD Blade battery, but it is still LFP and has degraded badly!

@gregb1599 Interesting, great the EV6 is holding up well. I think another issue is how the car is driven. EVs in general are tempting to thrash. However, if you do, like any vehicle it will cost in terms of durability.

@jimgraham6722 Well, ours is the AWD GT Line, and much to the displeasure of my wife, I loved putting my foot down a lot! Is a dam fast car! We overtook 7 cars and without any realising it hit 180kph! Would hate to imagine how much faster the EV6 GT is! Or a Tesla Model S Plaid now that would be insane!!
@jimgraham672229 күн бұрын
@gregb1599 The Atto is a plod compared to that, nonetheless off the lights in sports mode, it can show a Golf GT or a Mustang a clean pair of heels.

I'm thinking about getting a Sealion as my next vehicle, but with the announcement of the Blade V2 battery, I'm wondering if it makes sense to purchase now. A Sealion refresh with the Blade V2 will probably be announced late 2025 🤷♂

Stupid decision by BYD, announcing this battery six months ago and not putting it into all of their 2025 models.

@@lenuvianthe problem is that they have to build production and inventory for the millions of vehicles that they will produce. Also respect for their customers. If they claimed that they could deliver something they could not the idea would die on the vine like the promised Toyota solid state battery that was promised how many years ago? If they kept it quiet and announced it when it was ready for sale the next day every recent byd purchaser of previous blade version would be pissed.

It's govt propaganda I guess. CCP wanted them to do it. It doesn't serve them because it only leads people to defer their buying decision. Why do it? The CCP makes 'govt funding' the carrot. If you want funding, you have to deliver. We don't see this system in the West. We have a shit bureaucracy. But in NE Asia, the best are attracted into security of bureaucracy...where they are corrupted. But also can make good decisions.

Hi Tom, I enjoyed this quick-fire method of reporting on lots of EV news, but the last one (Jaguar) sounded like you were reading straight from something produced by Jaguar's PR department. I think you could have offered something independent and with your opinion rather than just parroting the manufacturer's propaganda.

EV sales do need to be put in context , the growth in the overall car market pie has stopped , Tesla's sales boomed during a time when the entire market was growing strongly , EV incentives have all but left the room , the reversal of Phev sales which had been falling has caught out many by surprise , fleets love hybrids like the RAV4 \ Sportage and Toyota\Kia have caught up with demand , UTE sales have continued to be strong due to mining / construction/ building and recreation markets still being strong. Tesla\ Hyundai and Polestar who were in the cycle early have suffered due to the new players and legacy at the luxury end playing catch up with BMW now doing well even Kia emerging from the pack with a more affordable models. Then we have the FUD which seems to be tapering but with a LNP Govt trying to get in ( Plus Trump in the US ) and a looming election campaign all things EV will be a tough sell . So what will 2025 bring , well it's going to be interesting new Tesla models ( that maybe countered by the Elon effect ) , better batteries , more chargers & more affordable models. Hopefully with all of this a resumption of good EV growth as people realise Zero tail pipe emissions is a goal that at the local and macro levels is massively worthwhile pursuing. Sorry for the rant Tom , all the best to the FAM for the Christmas Break.
