PHEVs are in their "model T" era, multiple different designs are being tried and the flaws of each are being revealed. ultimately i think EVs are doomed in the long term because there isn't a chance in hell of the government "getting its shit together" to build a grid capable of supporting EV charging infrastructure, its just not going to happen. the tech is there, and works, but aussie politicians couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery if their lives depended on it. ford is being extremely conservative with their ranger PHEV design, not wanting to sacrifice the benefits of mechanical transmission, which i think is probably the right way to go, they just need to increase the battery capacity by around 5-10x and the electric motor horsepower by around 5-10x, and they'll be onto a winner. the shark/outlander design works great on road but without a mechanical drivetrain you can't get 4low torque no matter how powerful the motors are.

Most of the Ute nowdays are utilised to bring tools gear now and then and small outdoor camping trips soccer games, the economics battery fuelsaving, comfortability, range looks, pricing point, battery been used in emergency situation, quality , cost of maintenance and warranty are some of the more key aspects why this Ute will outsell many other model easy. @@AmandaShane-w5k see it’s pretty clear you don’t have an idea about just what is under the raptor. Neither the Bao 5 or 8 could do what the raptor does offroad either. They are all independent suspension. They aren’t designed for the same purpose. The Bao and shark aren’t offroad vehicles, they’re cars that can go offroad. The raptor has more inline with an offroad race car than it does a production Ute. You can literally go jump a raptor at 150kmh and it will be fine you can’t do that with the BYD. The raptor is an enthusiast vehicle, the reason why people buy it is because you can’t go out and purchase parts to have a comparable suspension setup in a hilux, BYD, triton legally in Australia. The second most unimportant feature to use to compare pickups is their acceleration. The most unimportant is how their convertible top works. The most important issues with pickups are carrying capability, longevity, and fuel efficiency. When you perform acceleration tests you do it on dry pavement.

@13965082Ай бұрын
@ hell yeah, every car I have driven. I have lead permanently stuck to my foot. The shark is definitely the better option drag racing to the grocery store though
@fastfilАй бұрын
He started with 91% and had 78% left at the end of the 3rd run. So he used 13% for three drag races and returning back to the start. I think that's doing well for a heavy ute (battery capacity wise). What will slow it down over repeated runs is heat in either the electric motors or the battery. They cant run at full power non-stop and eventually start reducing their output but you'd probably only ever see it at a racetrack. Yes, if the battery is depleted below 25% it relies solely on a little 1.5T to power a big vehicle but thats where the hybrid magic comes in. The petrol motor can generate 100kw+ continuosly but the ute only needs 22kw average to run (maybe double it for offroad/towing/hard use) so it can always be topping up the battery. You can actually tell it what level to keep the battery at so if camping you can arrive with charge or if commuting you arrive home with low charge to maximise EV benefits. How well does that little 1.5T hold up to that workload? I'm watching this space closely to see. There's something about the thought of a cold motor being worked hard that makes me grimace.

@@oldbloke204 sounds like you have a bias against EVs and are one of those people who cant see any benefit in them. In the end its just another form of propulsion with an alternate power source. Petrol/diesel is not the future, whether batteries are long term remains to be seen. The world is attempting to move away from fossil fuels because it has to, it is not an infinite source and over the past 120 odd years we hace depleted our known stocks of oil significantly. Yes we wont run out in our lifetimes or even our kids, but it will cost us more and more money when we fill up though, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt begin the process of transition. I have an EV and a diesel, they both have their place in our current lives. But, it doesnt mean we cant have some fun comparing them!
