What a brilliant car! Ideal for those who want to ease over into the EV direction. Pity BYD does not have it available in South Africa at the moment. There is a huge gap in the market for PHEVs, and this one will be ideal.

Concernant la version boost une fois la batterie vidée peut on rouler à 130km heure sur autoroute en montée ?
@barnoslogik
@barnoslogik Ай бұрын
my only critisism would be that they never put the bigger battery in the dual motor version, that would have made the most sense in terms of the range on the battery, maybe not quite as much as the comfort but probably 65+ miles. Now i'm personally waiting for the comfort model to come out as for me the salary sacrifice price per month is lower than even the boost model, due to the added battery only range. so i believe it should be available in about feb time according to my local dealer. i agreed with you about the design model that yeah sub 6 seconds is impressive, but its an SUV design around comfort rather than being necessarily sporty, i think the only other reason to go for the dual motor other than than sprint speed is if you're going to be for towing.

I can answer why the rear of this car is so different from the Seal, because it is not modified from the Seal at all, it is another car called Song PLUS. For some reasons, BYD in China modified its front face, making it Its design language is similar to that of the Ocean series, but only the front face has been modified. So you will see a rear end that is completely different from the Seal.

The NFC function of the vehicle is mainly used to allow the owner to drive without a key, so that you can carry one less thing when going out. As an owner of the first generation Song plus dmi 2wd, I once drove 118km using 85% of the electricity. And this is still It's not the extreme distance. I used the normal mode for the first 74% of the 118km, and only entered the ECO mode for the last 11% of the forced EV mode, and the kinetic energy recovery mode was normal throughout the whole process.

The biggest problem with this car is that if you can charge it frequently , you will worry about the petrol in the tank going bad. I probably add 25 liters of petrol every 10 months.

does petrol plug in hybrid version have remote preheating via app?
@CarChatTV
@CarChatTV Ай бұрын
On the website for the BYD SEAL U Dm-i, it’s says this : BYD app In terms of connectivity, the BYD SEAL U DM-i offers the ability to remotely control multiple vehicle functions via the BYD app and view all kinds of vehicle information on their smartphone. Such as locking and unlocking the doors, closing open windows and operating the climate control, seat heating/ventilation, indicators and horn. You can also check the remaining battery charge and range, the remaining charging time and the tire pressure via the app. With your smart-phone, you can even unlock and start the car with NFC key functionality. So I don’t think it offers it, it would be good to see if a real life owner can shed a bit more light on this. Great question and thanks for sharing with us 🤗

My old Renault 7 seater will get 71mpg on a long run so the range on my renault with the same fuel capacity is 938 miles. Why cant newer cars do the same? The BYD is only 130kg heavier so i just don't understand. 🤷

That’s mad, is it a diesel? That’s some great mpg there! It is frustrating that new cars seem to fall at getting great mpg. With more complex powertrains and weight I think they just can’t achieve it. Until the battery tech gets developed so they are lighter and achieve more miles. It doesn’t seem to better than just getting a cheap diesel car if mpg is what you want. Thanks for the comment 🤗

Hello, really enjoyed your review, I am considering the comfort on offer at 33.5k for early 2025, why am I hesitant, have an ix3 which is going back as I am retiring soon, fantastic car let down by range, but for 98% of the time not an issue as charge at home, so ideally looking for a similar suv which is much easier to get in and out of, bmw is just too expensive on the budget I will have, I drove the boost and did not notice the suspension steering issues that all reviews seem to mention maybe I don’t drive cars hard enough anymore, but a couple of Australian reviews were mentioning car sickness for passengers, most of my driving is rural roads and due to police speed checks you can’t boot it anyway Just tried an ev3 which promises lots of range, and reviews all good, and while I found the drive good and performance more than enough at 43k it just did not blow me away, for 10k cheaper the byd seems on paper the right way to go, and if the comfort gets close to 78 miles on battery my petrol use should be minimal, I just wish byd could give me some service costs so I could compare I can’t think of any similar suv ev that can compete on price, the ford explorer has 5 years free service but the top of the range does not have the equipment of the byd

Hi Diane, thanks very much for sharing your thoughts with us. I think this BYD is going to be hard to beat, the suspension isn’t a deal breaker as it’s so comfy most of the time. So cruising is what it does best. I can’t believe all of the standard tech you get in the Seal U, you don’t see that anywhere else really. And the price seems fair too for what you are getting. We were really blown away with it! That’s why it’s probably the best affordable suv PHEV in the UK right now. Thanks for chatting and leaving us a comment 🤗

Never understand how phev are great on battery, but as soon as they run out of battery, they become worse than hybrids. I can only go on cars like the Toyota Rav4 hybrid that can achieve real-world driving ranges of 1100km per 55lt of fuel, with the BYD only saying "up to 1080km" which means not a chance. We have the best of both worlds a pure EV for city and short to medium distance and the Rav4 for travelling anywhere up to 1100km. Why are so many obsessed with using their phone to unlock the car? Our Kia EV6 auto unlocks just walking up to the door!
@CarChatTV
@CarChatTV 2 ай бұрын
Hey Greg, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, the rav 4 is great, we had a go in the Suzuki across which is basically the same car and we loved it. Very interesting that the rav4 can reach that range. Thanks for sharing your experience with the car. Yeah opening the car with a phone or digital key is a bit of a gimmick and only really good if you forget you key as like you said normally just walk up on keyless entry and get in. Thanks for chatting with us and taking the time 🤗
@gregb1599
@gregb1599 2 ай бұрын
@CarChatTV We actually have not got the Rav4 yet, due next month as it's a long long wait to get one! So there is no personal experience on fuel economy. We can only go on what other reviewers say. But the great thing about a long-range car is we can stop where we want to, not where the charger is. Of course, if it's a one family car, then a phev is probably the best option, especially if you regularly go on longer trips.
