I doubt they'll have the V2 Blade batteries. From what I've read, these batteries will be lighter as they are more energy dense. They can keep the same weight to give far greater range, but I expect they will find an optimal point between greater range, and less weight. The vehicles will likely have to be redesigned somewhat if the battery weight varies significantly, as handling will be affected. I'll expect to see the Sealion 7 with the V2 battery in a year or so when it gets an update.

The Atto might need to drop in price to make room for this. The seat height of the Atto was the deciding factor for me with the seal a bit too hard for me to get in and out. So be interesting to see the seat height for the SeaLion
@LudicrousFeed2 күн бұрын
SL7 is very similar height to Model Y (both around 1600mm) so will be interesting to gauge seat access
@DISCO_DUCK.Күн бұрын
@iamlsd12 the Atto was just too small for me seat wise. Not enough head room for 6,4 person
@gregb15997 сағат бұрын
@DISCO_DUCK. The crazy thing with just the Atto 3 was the height of the headrest, the Dolphin and the Seal no such problem, just the Atto 3 was ever slightly lower which caused the headrest to dig into my shoulders!

With e-platform 3.0 EVO and Blade 2 still a year or so away for a RHD Sealion 7, BYD are in a challenging position here. It is probably better to enter this rather competitive segment than to hold off and let others get stronger penetration. BYD does still have a big benefit of having an established brand and presence here in Australia. That will definitely work in favour of the Sealion 7.

As a fellow Seal owner, can't wait to add a Sealion (Wife approves!). Pretty sure it'll be too early to see Blade 2 in overseas markets....if the V2L somehow became V2H as well.....

Unlikely Blade 2 sadly which may make it a hard sell …

is australia getting the 2025 facelifted seal?

Hmm haven’t heard much about it yet
@robanzzz5124Күн бұрын
tbh,, if it's going to be priced in the mid 50,000 region i think that is uncompetitive pricing with all the other competition coming in 2025 . 55k would have to be for the top specced version with a 48k starting price.
@Aussie_Stu76Күн бұрын
Let's face it, if they had brought the SL7 with the larger battery, we would be looking at close to 80K. Which would price it out of the market. When there are clearly better cars out there. Pricing needs to be 55K and 60K for both the aussie models. Considering the similar Xpeng G6 is a slightly better car all round. Still number 1 on my list at the moment, but the G6 is starting to sway me.

Good to see BYD expanding. Still waiting for the Denza reveal and what vehicles will come to Australia - and hopefully with the Gen 2 batteries.

The 2025 Dolphin update is supposed to be getting a much better Adas, maybe even one pedal driving? of course, that's the claim, as we will see, as the new MG ES5 is also supposed to have big improvements to the adas. I am sure budget Chinese can do it as we used to own a Haval Jolion, and its adas was not bad, I like any adas that protects the driver from falling asleep or having a medical event where the system will slow the car down and stop as well as apply the parking brake and turn on the hazard lights vs most brands that just turn off and the car crashes and putting other innocent people in danger!

11/22kW 3-phase AC charging? Still think the Seal is a better option. Don't like the weight of this vehicle and its lacking on efficiency from what you've previously reported.
@LudicrousFeedКүн бұрын
I hope it'll come with faster AC charging! 😭
@PsychedMediaКүн бұрын
Can confirm 11kW. Because in thailand and malaysia uses the 11kw
@asfakhri2 күн бұрын
Your info is inaccurate, based on the vehicle weights approved by ADR, the specs match Malaysian SL7 specs not UK, so we won't be getting the 91kwh battery nor the 230kw max charging speeds.

Will update once the local distributor supplies pricing and specs in the new year

Without 800 Volt and the Newer platform it really isn't a great option also UK reviews are pretty poor with regards to steering input and overall driving dynamics

I also considered this car for our first EV purchase. We went with the Xpeng G6 instead. I found the Sea Lion 7 to be more driver centric with very nice feel in the front seat. The feeling in the back seat, however, was different as it felt sunked in. The back seat of the G6 is more airy which would be more suited for our son that has special needs. If it was just my wife and I it would be different. I probably would opt for the SL7 based on how I felt in the driver's seat and it looks somewhat familiar to our previous car which was an Audi Q5.

Electric Viking goes for clicks on sensationalist and biased commentary. Whilst I don't disagree some of his comments, he does try to amplify the importance of many issues.
