What makes BYD the biggest different from others I reckon would be a Shark is an EV architecture with an ice engine/generator for support whereas other brands are ICE architecture with electric as a supporting role.

I believe many Chinese automakers doing the same for their PHEVs, use fuel to generate the electric motors.
@fredfrond61482 ай бұрын
Yup. This BYD beast of a vehicle runs on a 1.5 litre gasoline engine. 800 km driving range for a 100km electric charge and a 65 litre tank of gas. Imagine how much you will save on gasoline vs a ford ranger.

@@eldios831 There has been ultra good Hybrid cars in China for around 6-7 years by now. All started from BYD's DM/DMi architecture. starting around 4 years ago it got to the point that the fuel consumption can get as low as 2.5 - 3.5L / 100km in city driving at around 50 - 70 KM/H average speed. For highway driving around 4.5 - 6L/100km. So when you have these options it is very card to consider normal ICE cars or the over costing "Hybrid" cars from legacy brands like VW, Toyota, and Honda.

Here in the U.S., former President Trump has made public statements on the campaign trail that he would allow BYD to sell their vehicles in the United States if they assemble them here as well. We really need affordable EVs in this country! BYD can make them, let do this!

Sorry, can't let the Tesla 'rattle warranty' comment go. I have first hand experience with my wifes Model Y having rattles/vibrations fixed under warranty with Tesla. In this case it was interior and exterior trim. Tesla will fix it at no cost however when you book the service in the Tesla App they give you a preliminary estimate of the cost, just as they do for all services. They ask you to approve the preliminalry quote then at service if they find it to be a warranty issue they do not charge. This should have been explained clearly but perhaps it wasn't in this case with the gentleman you had on. BTW. I've had 2 Model 3 LRs, 2021 and 2024, with no issues with ratlles or vibrations at all.

@@airrodgers1242 In fact, it doesn't matter. During the epidemic, our car had been parked for 3 years. After replacing the battery, it started normally. Gasoline is difficult to deteriorate as long as it is not exposed to the air.
@skybughai2 ай бұрын
In BYD's previous generation of DMI system a few years ago, the engine would randomly run for more than ten minutes every month while driving, in order to ensure the normal operation of the lubrication system and prevent the oil tank pressure from increasing. The latest DMO system should also have similar settings.

If the diesel engine drives the front axil, why isn’t the power output higher than the electric motor output. You sure the diesel generator doesn’t send some electricity directly to the front motor to reduce load off the battery when driving like a race car driver.
