I think it's just saying you can layer other mascaras on top that don't curl so you get the curl effect as well as the mascara you use on top. Personally I don't think you need another on top.

you have roll the wand as you apply hence the term "roller lash" the wand creates the lift. it's quite easy if you do it correctly. I'm not sure why so many ppl seem to miss that. .. but anyways I hope that helps because it's a great mascara. it does not need any topper mascara lol that's just benefit trying to get you to buy two of their mascaras.

+A.L. Talay same for me mine won't hold without waterproof, but this mascara did on me for a good amount of time and I like topping it off with too faced better then sex mascara to give me more thickness

I've tried it and am LOVING it! The formula is exactly the same as the liquid version, but it just comes in a cushion compact rather than a bottle. The shades are kinda different from the original liquid version though. The cushions have W3.5 and the bottles didn't.

JUDY! it does curl your lashes! benefit even has a video that shows you how to use it! once i did it, i've never seen my lashes so curled and lengthening. never even needed to add another mascara

Hi Judy! You have to try it again because your actually using it up side down. 😁That's why it didn't work that well. the short bristle is for the bottom and the long curved part is for the top. Your suppose to wiggle to "hook" the lashes and then twist it to curl it. Try it again and you will see a bigger difference 👍

This mascara is definitely not that great for Asian lashes! I tried it and absolutely hated it! I curled my lashes beforehand and it make my lashes droop! Way worse than my maybelline rocket in waterproof.

+Alicia Wu I'm not Asian, but the same exact thing happens to me! My lashes at least have some curl in them, but the formula of this didn't do a thing and I pre-curled too! I tried The Rocket because everyone said it was awesome and my lashes literally went straight! I think it really has to do with a persons body hair. I have nice lashes, but the hairs are fine. They just don't do well with a thick formula mascara, they seem to get weighed down. Has anyone else noticed this?

Judy, you used the brush wrong! You're supposed to use the curve side face up and then bump and wiggle, you had it face down. Try again! It's really works!

judy, you need to ROLL the wand. i was having the same problem with it until i rolled the wand as i am applying the mascara. and it looks soooooo curled! definitely technique makes a huge difference. 😃

i wiggle at the base first, then i rolled the wand up to the end of my lashes. seriously, my lashes has never so lifted! but this definitely cn get very clumpy very quick. that's why i just focus on the base by wiggling to give volume and roll the wand to life my lashes up. 😊

This is actually one of my favourite mascaras! I have pretty long lashes to being with but it curls and lengthen them for sure and does not smudge at all (i work 12hrs shift and can have my makeup on for 16hrs at a time)

I use the Roller Lash with the They're Real in top and I love it. You have to "roll" the brush as you glide upwards. It's not obvious how to apply but I got lucky that an employee at the Ulta told me how to use it.

This mascara works really great if you find the right way to use it! Try and actually roll the wand from the bas of your lashes to the top pushing against your lashes and that will help lift and curl your lashes! :)

I have thin sparse lashes + They're Real never fails to clump. However, I am obsessed with the They're Real Primer that just came out. You should try it. I wear it alone for a defined natural look, but you can use it for priming and or for water proofing top coat.

You should try the Maybelinne push up drama mascara, its the drugstore version and I love it. My lashes have a little curl but it still curls them dramatically. I'd like to see how it works for someone with straight lashes

Hey Judy! I personally use this mascara and I can absolutely say that it's my favorite mascara. My eyes are really short as well but I didn't find my eyelashes clumping together. When I use it, I usually just use it by itself.

Benefit suggest that you hook and roll the brush wand as you apply the mascara. It took some practice but really made a difference as far as lifting and curling the lashes upward. Love this mascara, the formula is nice and light on the lashes as well.

You're suppose to roll the mascara wand as you move it up the lash....like a curl roller hence the name.

I love my Benefit roller lash...after trying it out though I saw somewhere that in order to get that lift and curl you have to - wiggle the wand at the base of your lashes then as you lift it through your lashes, you have to partially turn the wand upwards so the 'hooks' can catch the short lashes and the curl can set. I have sparse short Asian lashes like yours and this technique worked for me!

Hey Judy! Since you're not a fan of curling your lashes, you should consider getting your eyelashes permed! I'm not into eyelash extensions because I don't want to have to deal with fall out & getting them filled every few weeks. I have a lot of eyelashes but they're stick straight Asian eyelashes. Getting an eyelash perm has been life changing!! My lashes look fuller & I'm not the type to wear mascara everyday, but when I do, my lashes almost look like falsies. The best part? An eyelash perm lasts for 2-3 months :)

I've tired this and it makes my lashes really hold curl. the technique that I found helpful was that you have you rotate the wand and you will feel the bristles catch the lashes and curl them upward. Anyways happy belated birthday Judy. Love you.

I have small lashes, n truthfully, the mascara worked beautifully. I loved it n it keeps my eyes curled n I only had to put one coat. It's pricey but it really worked.

I add loreal butterfly or maybelline lash sensation (both are water proof) because they say waterproof mascara will hold curl better and since the roller lash is underneath, the waterproof isn't hard to remove :) hope this helps

Judy, you need to try Kiss Me Heroine Long Curl Mascara. It gives you length and it does not budge at all. My lashes never falls, it just stays put as how it is when i first apply it.

I have asian eyelashes and I curl my lashes before applying this mascara and with any mascara. It adds volume and some extensions to my lashes. And I absolutely love it and it is by far my favorite mascara.

I've got straight sparse lashes as well and this roller lash mascara is my fav! *quick tip (I got it from the benefit bar)- do the wiggle wiggle step using the inner curve of the brush then use the outer curve and ROLL the brush into your lashes starting at the base! It works best that way :D your lashes will look fab! xo

An employee at Sephora actually recommended this mascara to me. When I tried it I loved it and have been using it since but I think I like it because I have really long lashes (i'm lucky, i know!) that start to look clumpy with a lot of mascaras. This one is really natural looking on me and it separates my lashes well (although in all honesty I've never done the "wiggle, wiggle" but that's just my opinion!

The Maybelline lash sensational is one of the greatest mascaras ever and it definitely gives a curl. I personally hate lash curlers. Also, you should try using natural organic coconut oil on your lashes, I believe they lengthen you're lashes. I've been coating my lashes in coconut oil on most nights and have seen a difference.

The lady at the benefit counter told me to start at the roots of the lashes and to twist the brush from the inward curved side to the outward curved one while moving the brush to the tips. That really made a difference and lifted the lashes even more :)

I think this product still has potential! Sure, it may be one of those things that only work if you apply them a certain way, but it's worth a shot? I find that to be the case with a lot of mascaras I try. At first, I hate them. But then I do some research and play around with it some more...and BAM!
