Bygone Peterborough

love the old film footage. I am nearly 66 and grew up in Peterborough and left when i married in 1979 and moved to Cheshire. I have fond memories when i was younger of the Cathedral Square, there may have been the old market then possibly not sure. I got married in St Johns Church and also attended Girl Guides in the Cathedral Precincts and walked through there many times to go to the Wirrina for Roller Skating at the weekends. I ave recently seen film footage of Peterborough now and was suprised to see the old market had disappeared. One place my mum took me when i was younger and there was the Cattle Market along with Rabbits to see! I remember the really old station before it was modernised, and used to take my brother up Mayors Walk Bridge for him to train spot(he then eventually went on to work for the Railways) Thank you its always nice to bring memories back!

Excellent - Well put together Mark .. It must have been a big challenge - One point - Sorry, Flying Scotsman didn't feature in Octopussy..... They used all continental locomotive based on the NVR Mark ...
