Love that faux feather headdress around the 7:10 mark! Those printed fabric “feathers” are sold in bunches for floral arrangements here in the US, and I have used them on theatrical millinery where real feathers might be in danger of getting crushed backstage.

Good to know! I was still wondering about those, it makes sense to have more durable materials in costuming.

Hello Donna, Thank you so much for watching my videos! ❤️ I don't organize LHW, and am in no way affiliated with them. I just attend the event like every normal milliner 😊 The best advice I can give you, is to come down to London with a few millinery friends so that you can save money on accommodation by group booking an AirB&B. If you can't make it down South, they do do online events 🎉

Commiserating at the 20:00 -ish point about working with wet straw and the way it dries the hands out! I keep a tube of hand cream in my studio because of that issue! I've had other milliners recommend something called "Corn-Huskers Lotion" (US product), but I prefer a hemp hand cream from The Body Shop that is less greasy/oily. But I'm sure everyone has their own preference of moisurizer and the point is, everyone working with straw for millinery will need it! 😆

I am currently switching between Aesop and Neutrogena hand creams depending on if I'm working in the office or in my kitchen! I also like to use nail oil on my finger tips - especially after sewing with thimbles all day. Nail oil is just jojoba oil mixed with a bit of Vitamin C oil - it's very nourishing!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of London Hat Week, so enjoyed watching it . I was delighted to see the third hat from the Culter Trust Luton as I recently found a fabulous vintage boater hat in a charity shop, the straw is exactly the same, I've been searching for its origin, and it's definitely not modern. I love finding vintage hats. I shall look up the CTL it might tell me something about this straw. Thanks again for a very interesting and informative video.

I'm just going to comment several times as I go through the video I suppose, as I'm at the 13:30 point now! 😀 I did the streamed version of that "Veils 3 Ways" class--really enjoyed it and she did a quick tour of the John Boyd Hats workplace,, plus gave some background about him which was all fascinating. For the demo portions, I wished they'd had better camera angles/lighting, but regardless appreciated her commentary/technique modeling.
