Sorry this for me doesn't make sense. You are walking through acres of fallen leaves some still green yet you are taking them from the trees/bushes.

Hi, I can't believe I missed this one, and the Barcelona one (going there next). First I think it's a bit sad that hats at Royal Ascot is dead. One more step towards killing the hat wearing completely. Thank you for showing the publication I didn't even know existed. I'll know better the upcoming Ascot 2025, and will keep an eye out for it. I really enjoyed the ideas behind some of these hats, not all mind you, but most. The most thought provoking is the one with all the crystals. I'm soon coming up to my yearly dance competition and all the crystals on my gown an all other gowns that will be seen a the event. If I knew a hat to wear with a ballgown I would most certainly figure something out. As things are the only thing appropriate, in my mind, would be a tiara, and they look somewhat ridiculous on slicked back hair, so no. The round disk with the crystals gave me a hint of the New Look Hats feel, which is a style I enjoy, so I really like that one. The first one too is fabulous, I've enjoyed disc shaped hats a lot lately. All of these for me new ideas are making my brain fizz with happiness, so I'll be looking through them again. But maybe after the other video I missed. Do you know anything about how Sara from SH Millinery is doing? I haven't heard anything after her saying that she had been ill, but I don't really want to intrude to much. If you prefer to answer by email I should be on your list. I hope that you and your family are doing well and I wish you a Happy New Year 2025. Yours, Ann

Hi Ilona, thank you so much for a clear tutorial and instructions. I have couple of questions, if you don't mind. Why centre back line is not parrallel to the edge of paper but under angle (It doesn't stay AD but goes 1.5cm right from D)? When extending my drafting block to the hips, my front and back pattern overlapped, even though my hips are quite narrow?
@ByIlonaMillinery
@ByIlonaMillinery Ай бұрын
Hello! The centre back line is angled for a tighter fit in the bodice. With the hip pattern overlapping, I think it's more flattering to have fabric loose at the hips. When you sit your hip measurement will expand and tyst extra fabric will accommodate that. The best thing to do is create a mockup, and if you think there's too much fabric at your hips, just take that away.

Great video. Very organized and concise. I struggle with the same thing you do, except I'm in America and use imperial and it is very frustrating. A lot of times videos do not take the time to tell you which one they are using or give conversions same as you want to reach as many as you can smart thing to do would be to give conversions-which you did. Thank you. I'm just now delving into dying different materials and I have learned a lot from you. Especially some new tools to add to my supplies.

And excellent video thank you. Food colouring works on protein fibres (which is why it stains your skin) like silk and wool. Leaves are cellulose fibres so it doesn't work easily on them ...although prior to soaking in glycerine it might stain them. Try soaking them first in a stronger solution of food colouring so the veining can absorb some and then do the glycerine soak.

Hello, very very interesting. I have a question, with the time, the leaves won't become rot? Or as you put some gloos varnish, it preserve the leaves for years. Thank you for yours advices Joëlle from Belgium

Hi! I made this video 2 years ago. I just used some of the leaves from this experiment last month to make a wreath. All the leaves were in great condition - it didn't matter if they were varnished or not.

Don't go, this "sport" leads to the death of thousands of horses a year between those who are slaugtered as not fast enough or for minor injuries (Guardian newspaper) and those who have catastrophic injuries leading to slaughter on the racecourse itself (follow Racehorse Death Watch for numbers). What you will be dressing up for is the equivalent of a visit to a slaughterhouse.

GLOVES!!!!!!!! You need to be wearing rubber gloves, and a dust mask, to mix your dye powder! Additionally, the dyes won’t dissolve properly in salt water. Use plain water in a separate container, and filter the dye through hose stretched over a tea strainer, or expect speckles! (Yes, I rhymed on purpose!) These dyes are delightful to use, avoid developing allergies to them!

I was looking for a video on how to repair vintage hat box as I had just brought one today for $20 on Facebook Market. It's smells vintage and unfortunately the clasp was destroyed breaking away the important part of the clasp altogether. However, 20 dollar buy is a 20 dollar buy. So, I thought I would restore it. Funnily enough as I was searching, your video popped up and since I've never known how Miliners work - I was totally blown away. Your explanation and commentary was mind blowing I couldn't move on to look for what I needed. So I finished cooking my dinner and sat here eating and watching this video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for posting! :)
