The Royal Ascot square black and white number is by far and away my fave hat she ever wore. She does have a fitting challenge with so many of her outfits as weve talked about before. However that Philip Treacy hat, i'm constantly in awe of its construction and balance as a piece of art. I also adore your little robin hood number youre wearing here - just too cute!

Out of interest, what type of hat and mechanism of it staying on your head would you recommend for someone with short hair (i.e a short pixie cut) ? I love the look of many hats but can’t really see a way of wearing them without elastics showing etc.

Hello! Great question! Have a look at any hats that are set on headbands - sometimes button hats can be on metal headbands instead of the elastic. Also any have with a wire frame hats such as vintage calot half hats : see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZepeqN9YriLedU

I like the wispy, whimsical blue fascinator. I also like the Phillip Treacy teardrop worn with the black turtleneck dress, but I wish it had been in a color (for a different occasion, of course, not a solemn one) that would contrast with her hair so the shape and embellishments were easier to see.

@@ByIlonaMillinery Dear Ilona, When the Princess of Wales is styled with her full name, it's spelled with C, not K. So, while she is called "Kate" by most media, the proper way to refer to her should be Catherine, Princess of Wales. I'm only mentioning it so you take it into consideration as you write the title/thumbnail for the video about her hats. (I can't wait! I have a few favorites: a red one with a maple leaves she wore during a tour of Canada, an off-white one, with a very contoured brim, that she wore at Ascot 2016, a royal blue that looks like felt or wool and has embellishments at the crown and below the brim, a black one that was dramatically upturned and had a single curly feather detail (at the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme) a brown velvet pillbox 2012 St. Patrick's Day...oh, so many!)

Th e olive outfit was for a chrisenting and the correct color pallett was pastels. And the navy tht you like was for Trouping. It was meant for evening.

Hi, Thank you for an other lesson in hats. Hmm I can't really say I have opinions on the hats. As I think I understood you say, is that a hat can't stand or fall on it's own, but is very integral part of a look. Mostly. I tend to like the wide brimmed dark number, going with the gray coat. Maybe because I can see myself in something like that. As I'm still new in this sport of Hats And How To Use Them, I really enjoy the analysis that you give for the why something works, or not as case may be. I think I recall reading somewhere that Meghan was trying to not stand out, so she wore a lot of beige & cream initially but only started wearing (her preferred) stronger colours after they left the UK.

I’m sure she did struggle to figure out how to dress appropriately for her royal duties, as anyone would who isn’t used to such strict rules and scrutiny, but she’s worn so much beige, tan and cream since returning to the States I think that’s just a line she threw out there during her interviews.

I absolutely loved this video. I am ashamed to say that, try as I may, I have not been able to acquire a taste for Meghan Markle. I have really tried not to be judgmental so I will keep working on that. I think when she sat with Oprah and spoke ill of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family that became the proverbial straw that broke the camels back for me. I laughed so hard when you previewed what I have called the "poo hat" from day one. For the life of me I will never understand why she chose that hat to wear. I bet she regrets it now. Anyway, I loved the way you are able to match the perfect hat with the outfit. And I love the hat you are wearing too. It suits you so well. Just lovely. Thank you for these "hat critique" videos...I LOVE them and can't wait for more.
