BYJU'S IAS the question doesn't ask about coastal sand mining. It is a general question. Sand mining takes place in UP, Bihar etc, where I'm sure there will no salt water intrusion as given in the explanation.

"salinity of river will increase due to sea water rushing into the river bed" this is the reason given at 2:14. but the option says decrease in salinity. I am bit confused now. please clearify.

Sir, can you please check question 6 Consequences of Sand mining . For this question is answer is B (2 and 3 only) but you said answer D (1, 2 and 3 ). Salinity will increase but not decreases. Please clarify.
