Another trick to help get the concrete to settle down in that I've done is of you take a Sawzall blade and grind the teeth off then screw a block of wood to the blade you can then use that contraption in your Sawzall and lay the wood on top of the concrete and vibrate from the top to force concrete down. Then just add more concrete to fill the form back up. Works in a pinch.

My biggest question about this project was how to figure in the finished dimension of both the fascia material (stone veneer in my case) and the finished concrete top so that the grill would play nicely with both finished surfaces. Your project was the most detailed I’ve seen on the subject and I really appreciate all the time you took. I’m still on the fence between pour in place counters or making a mold and then flipping the counter. I’m a gas log manufacturer so I have a lot of experience with mold making and concrete products but this is new territory for me!

@@deeruckussolutions8772 yup. I went ahead with the project and the initial quality is fantastic. I would never advise anyone without being a true expert so I can’t yet speak to the longevity of the build. My best advice was to simply get all materials on hand first so you can get your best measurements in person. The manufacturers measurements were not accurate enough for me.

Serious question: what is the reason for concrete reinforcement in the middle of the slab? Isn't this where the tension/compression converge and there is no compression and tension? I would think reinforce near the top or bottom depending on tension or compression. Cool forming system

I've been looking into this form system for a while. Looks like a pretty sweet system. I'm a tile contractor and would love to expand my offerings. This might be the one. And I am wondering if the cost is less or comparable to granite, of course it's also what a customer may want no matter what.
@BYOTools
@BYOTools 3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear bud and thanks so much for watching. As for price the concrete is obviously much less then a solid surface but you also have to take into account the amount of time you are putting in compared to a set it and forget it with granite. Pretty comparable when it’s all said and done.

You touched on it briefly in the video, but it wasn’t very clear. I’ll be doing mine this weekend using the same system - would it possible to get clarification? Did you use and modify the square edge (snap off) form or the pre-cast (non-snap off) form?
