I would love to see a follow-up video to this (maybe on the second channel?) that shows the touch up work Anthony did on the island. So many other concrete countertop videos either come out "perfect" or skip over the touch up steps. As someone who wants to tackle this project at some point in my own house, I feel like that would be super helpful to see.

We put in a gigantic concrete slab bar in our brewery using this system. Its an "L" shape, 16x4 on one side, and 20x4 on the other. It was a LOT of work, but it was definitely worth the effort. I pulled in 6 friends who have never worked with concrete before, and the end product is amazing. Its a messy job, but very "novice" friendly.

Part of the reason for that edge profile is that the vertical surface on the back of the 1-1/4" section prevents liquids from following the bottom surface all the way back to your cabinets if there is a spill. If you got a different edge style from a company like this or made your own forms, it's important to have some kind of break like that, even if it's a different shape/style.

I just started doing white concrete countertop using the same products. I thought I screwed it up because of my inexperience, but after watching this video, I feel a lot better about my end results. I think it came out better than what Anthony and Bob did. There are a lot less bubbles on my edges. I know they are both new to pouring concrete themselves, but glad to know that I'm at least getting slightly better results.

Yes, imperfections just add character! We just poured our concrete countertops using the quickrete countertop mix. The look great, but definitely have some character. 😄

I used this system about 6 years ago. I polished ours in place which made a huge mess but they are super smooth. They are great because you can put hot pots/pan right on them.

My mom's island is 10'x5' and a solid slab of black granite. Needless to say, the 6 guys had a hell of a time bringing it in. This was in a Phoenix July and the island slab sat on the trailer while they installed the "L" shaped counter. The island was still hot a couple hours later.

Thanks for doing this video! I have been wanting to do concrete countertops for years and really just haven’t had the guts to do it. Pretty soon I’m going to be building a new vanity for my bathroom. It will actually be my first vanity and I think I’m going to do a cement countertop after watching this video. And I like the idea of the white cement because I am planning on doing gray cabinets so this is perfect.

What went wrong (not flat? and I could see a rebarb pattern on some of the shots)and what sort of post processing it needed to be finished off. Loved this video guys, cool product too. Best solution i have for bubbles would be coming from under the countertop in the cabinet area with a reciprocating saw or a vibration saw both with no blade and it will vibrate all of the bubbles out more effectively.

Civil engineer here. Pro tip:If you want to help concrete flow better between mesh just use a vibrator(yes the kind you are thinking about would work) or anything thin enough to fit between the mesh gaps and vibrates. Also could you share the excat type of concrete used? Just curious

They used Concrete Countertop Solutions white concrete mix. It’s a 9000psi concrete using acrylic fibers vs fiberglass.

As with all 'concrete jobs' that involve a large flat area, air in the mix is an issue. I have seen people use a reciprocating saw, without a blade in it, to provide vibration on the outer edge to get the bubbles out. For projects like this one I would suggest using an orbital sander, without sandpaper. You talked about, but didn't show it in the video but I assume you put a 2 x 4 all the way along under the outer edge of overhang and then put props under that to take the weight.

Did you guys use the Euro Form? I heard you mention 1” of concrete over the main area with the 1-¼ face. Just curious if you know. We have used their regular form edge and are now using the Euro. I own and operate a renovation company. Great video for sure! Just curious, I couldn't help but notice the gaps around the outlets on top... what with this being a countertop and spills that will inevitably happen... is there anything like a silicone seal or anything around those that was or will be added? I would love to try this project myself, including outlets, and curious how you tackled that?

Good question. He is doing a top coat to even everything out (a product the company offers) and it should set the outlet covers flush with the top.

The company sent their sink form. It is a single flat bendable form with adhesive on the lower edge. You stick it to the inner edge of the sink and concrete gets poured. There are other sink options on their website, but that's how he did it.
