The Grimburg looks so impressive from the shear power is produces but the fact that the co2 canister has to be twisted for it to work turns me off. I really like the Byrna cuz it’s ready to go when you pull the trigger.
@AlternateArmsSD4 ай бұрын
That is one of the drawbacks to the Gavle. Its power is unrivaled out of the box (as of today) :)
@Tenn-pipes-powder-ponderance3 ай бұрын
I almost did not buy the Gavle for that reason. Twisting the co2.... But then I got thinking. Most the time you see danger coming. Most the time you have a spare second, most the time you can "read the room". And if your Gavle is in a holster or jammed in your pants, it's takes NOTHING to twist that co2 even through your shirt and no one would have a clue what you are doing. I carry other items for self defense. I use a Mace pepper "gun" sprayer that takes care of 10 to 20 feet, Sabre hand held pepper / OC spray and that takes care of 5 to 10 feet and an expandable baton for hand to hand. For me, the Gavle ( or any brand) takes care of the 20 plus feet. Remember, it's not just yourself your protecting. 99% of the time, you'll have time. And that 1% ? Well then your hand to hand. Just some things to consider. Have a great day.

The Gavle seems to be twice the power but is very large, slower to use due to having to twist the CO2 cartridge and can't be reloaded quickly with another magazine.

Great video. I heard Grimburg has a new set of seals that can handle the CO2 being charged past the five-minute time limit to avoid ruining the older-style seals. That is a nice development. I was concerned about that so I never loaded mine back to back when plinking. One load up, bleed the unused CO2 out and put it away. Now a person can keep the system charged with the CO2 cylinder snug instead of rattling around when walking with one on my belt. I am curious how long a marker can sit charged up with these new seals without damaging the marker.

I have a question about my Byrna LE. I have had a loaded magazine in the launcher for several months now, and just out of curiosity I removed it and took out ammunition. One of the maximum pepper balls was cracked. This was very disappointing, after all, I don’t wanna wait till I’m in an altercation before I load the launcher. What is your take on keeping magazines loaded over a long period of time?
@AlternateArmsSD3 ай бұрын
One question, did you have it hot loaded? If so, that means you had a considerable amount of pressure against the round just below the one in the breach. I’m assuming that was a pepper around. Also, there are many different qualities of pepper rounds. Some of the best actually seal the ball at the seam using an adhesive as opposed to just pressure. That’ll eliminates a lot of that problem as well.
@Manticore20243 ай бұрын
@@AlternateArmsSD I’m not sure what you mean by hot loaded, but nevertheless, the max pepper round was third from the top in the magazine.
@jediknight1294Ай бұрын
@@Manticore2024hot loaded is full mag and one in the chamber. The problem with pepper balls is their a 2 piece design and there's always going to be issues with seam failure under pressure. You need to check them once every 3 weeks or so. They aren't leave loaded forever rounds.

my cousin and I tested the byrna HD which they dont make anymore. he shot me from 20 feet away , both center mass. first was the kinetic round directly in the middle of my chest and it hurt like Hell but I was able to keep coming. then we used the pepper ball round from same distance. both hurt like Hell. the pepper ball round didnt affect me at first but a few seconds later I was in tears. can you take a couple of the kinetic rounds and keep coming?definitely, but the HD only uses 8gram CO2 and it if it was using 12gram and rapidly fired at the head I wouldn't not be able to take that and few people could. it would easily shatter bones in the face. So Yeah, I can tell you from direct experience they work and work well for close range self defence, especially for the home. A gun just isnt necessary for home protection. even if a home invader had a gun , with the element of suprise and a couple of quick shots using a good load of first pepper, then all out kinetic with a 12gram cartridge you would be able to disable the attacker. there is way to much liability with guns. And g am a CWP holder who totally advocates pepper ball over firearms for self defence. however in an SHTF situation....Im grabbing my AR. But we arent there yet, so save yourself the drama of firearms and carry less lethal.

Testing a gun in a vice grip is to check repeatability of the gun/projectiles. If a gun doesn't fire in the exact same spot when hard mounted, then you can expect to never have repeatable accuracy when firing normally. The vise grip test is very obviously not for real world situations.

You are 100% correct though, each one would have their own specific purpose. Another thing, I’ve learned that you can train your muscle memory to charge these very efficiently if you practice with the launcher quite a bit. I’ve got the Grinberg down to less than a half a second from draw. The burner on the other hand, you have to muscle train yourself to charge it on safe so that your first round will go down range at full velocity. As far as the ball, there are so many different strike to puncture launcher out there that it is actually quite easy to quickly puncture during your draw and get on target immediately.
