Byron Katie talks openly to George Williams, founder of Inexcess Television about her life changing experience that led to the development of The Work. "I thought suicide and death where the only way out, my self esteem was so low I didn't believe I deserved a bed"
In this rare interview Katie shares her unique outlook on how we can challenge our thoughts and beliefs. "When I believed my thoughts, I suffered. When I challenged my thoughts, I didn't suffer-when your mind wakes up, everything shifts".
Katie and George also talk about dealing with addiction, guilt and shame and how we react when "we think these thoughts".

@Barak, how are u doing? & yes, it was the same with me, first i got to read & listen to Tolle,& becuz of him, i first heard of Katie when he spoke of her questioning what the voice in her head would say, & asking'' is that true?'' it sounds so simple but very very practical & practice-able for us who have been made literally sick from believing the ego as being some kind of authority, well, we don't have to, instead of EdgeGodOut, we can & i believe are guilty of malpractice in our lives if we dont question the false god of ego!

When I first met her, I was just looking for ways to be a better coach, she re-opened all the doors I had shut in my life. She shows people how they can be free of their suffering, believe me, it feels very good ! There is nothing creepy about her, she radiates kindness, peace, joy and love.

I understand how THE WORK ...works LOL from this interview. The guilt I have had for years...which actually comes from what someone else did....influenced EVERYTHING in my life for years. It still creeps in now. This will be a game changer for me!!! Thank you Katie

@NYCw66 When something awful happens, people feel traumatized for months or years. The question is, how can they effectively move back to a place of feeling peace, feeling whole and complete instead of carrying that pain their whole lives. They can try to blame, or change laws, change other people's behavior etc, and that's great. but how can they put their pain at peace? What byron katie is saying is just one way and it's a way that works, in practice, not just in theory. it's the inner journey

I don't mind many of her ideas but I think it is a bit too black and white. Situations are always a lot more complex than we are led to believe here. Yeah most of us have guilt, anger, shame, resentment, various addictions but just turning it around is not always sufficient to deal with the complexity of life.. Not to say that this stuff don't work, just like AA, it work in some cases but not all. Being true to yourself and letting others be what they are meant to be is hard enough... Cheers!

"I don't mind many of her ideas" .........I think your jealous of her ideas

This is what I kept thinking as I listened to this. Thank you for putting it into words, and the person calling you jealous is obviously unwilling to listen to other opinions and ideas than those they have chosen.

Her work is not just turning things around - statements, thoughts, ideas - it is a series of questions - and most importantly, sitting in silence and waiting for the answers from another part of oneself - not the part that is believing the statements, thoughts, ideas - and that will show you a very different world, a different reality than the one you were believing in. The 4 questions do that - only then do you do the turn aournds - to further dislodge the 'belief' in the initial statement you are questioning. This work is for when you feel bad - if you feel good then all is well - but if you feel bad you investigate why = not out in the world but in our own mind. it really works and is miraculous = but it works not because of anything Katie did but because the Truth will set you free and that is question number one: Is it true? I hope this helps. Check our her website - all is there and free. Good luck!

@@flaviasouza8724 This technique may or may not be suitable or useful for certain people. I wrote that 9 years ago. My bf at the time of this inquisition has since passed. No longer interested in this sort of thing. One thing is true for sure "Truth will set us free". Coming soon to a theater near you. Cheers
