I had a friend who got his house broken into twice when he was at work. The guy got all of his guns and anything expensive he had in his house. It flipped him over the edge and he went a little bit crazy. He almost lost his job because he would drive by his house in his work truck all day checking to see if the guy was there. He would hide in the woods behind his house waiting to catch him. Apparently you have never owned anything in your life to make a statement like that. When you get broke into you feel violated and scared. You don't feel safe. I've had my house broken into also. You will never get me to feel sorry for people like this. Don't even try. For all he knew they had his own guns and coming in to kill him. They chose the wrong crazy guy to mess with. Maybe they should have picked your house.

I really don't "get' this one. Siting in a chair in the basement of a locked house waiting for intruders to come down the stairs, so you can stop them. DON'T BREAK INTO OTHER PEOPLE"S HOMES. Lying in wait would have been if he had stalked them going about their daily lives and ambushed them on neutral territory. They broke into HIS house, should have he offered them milk and cookies and helped them carry out what they wanted? Yes he should have called police sooner, Yes he was merciless. Still doesn't change the fact that those kids chose to break into HIS private property. The consequence for their actions was harsh, perhaps if they had learned the concept of consequences sooner this wouldn't have happened.

He was expecting them. He knew they were casing the place because of the video cameras. That's why he hid his truck. He wanted them to break in so he could murder them. He was pissed because they had broke into his home and stole from him before. I don't blame him for being angry, and the two teens had no business burglarizing his home like that. However, he should have called the cops as soon as he saw them trespassing on his property. He had ample time, and could have held the teens at gunpoint once they entered his home. It's not like they surprised him, and he reacted out of fear. He purposely set a trap so he could kill them. This was a premeditated execution, plain and simple. Nine shots for two teenagers is not defending yourself, it's murder.

I still don't understand why he's in prison, The 2 teens who broke into his home were drug addicts & previously robbed his home half a dozen times. They were breaking into his home to steal his valuable stuff that's worth a fortune & then sell it so they could have money to support their drug addiction. So these kids got the karma they deserved. He should have gotten just a few years for going overboard with the shooting. The headshot on the girl wasn't necessary lol. That's fucked up. But to lose the rest of your life for doing nothing but sitting in your basement is a little rough. He didn't snatch the girl, tie her up and rape her. He used self defense against an intruder in his home. He could've used a chainsaw for all I care, but again, don't cut their arms and legs off once the threat is gone. It's obvious who is in the wrong. Remove the old guy from the situation and you have kids robbing an empty house. Remove the kids from the situation and you have an old man happily sleeping at home.

There is a lot of very ignorant people in the comments, yes the teens had no right to break into his home and it’s really sad that he went through feeling scared to live in his own home, but also he never went to the cops, and then he set them up to break into his house, he parked his car away from the home and then walked back so the teens would think he wasn’t there, then he payed out plastic wrap at the bottom of the stairs and even hid in a closet until they came in, and then shot them both, multiple times, no mercy. He killed them. Murdered them. And it is not justified at all.

I listened to the audio video of him committing the murders and a little while after the shooting, he's moving the tarps with her body in it.... she is still alive you hear her moan slightly then again a couple of seconds later and He's just sat chatting waffle instead of calling an ambulance. Or administering aid, She's clearly still alive but dying very slowly, where he's talking you nearly miss it but if you listen a couple of times you hear her faint moans ....! So she was still alive well after he shot ! I mean WTF??? That's murder. 100% no matter what these warped people say.
