Because it was a video for their movie the director was kind of doing a tribute to movies and the different segments in the video was based on each of the Spice Girl's own film fantasies that they wanted to act out. Mel B's is based on 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome'. Emma Bunton's is based on 'Poltergeist'. Mel C's is based on 'Year of the Dragon'. Ginger Spice's is based on an old Hollywood movie called 'Gilda'. Victoria Beckham's was based on Catwoman.

Can ANYONE relate? In the UK, I was 9/10 when the Spice girls came out and EVERONE was obsessed. So in the school playground, all girls would all get in groups of 5 (you had to recruit a friend or something if your friendship group was under 5 people) and all around the playground there were different girl groups singing and dancing to spice girl songs doing impromptu concerts and it was a battle who could get the bigger audience. Back it the 90s it was common to released music videos to promote a movie and include clips of the film in the music video. "Too Much" was the theme song to the film "Spiceworld" which explains the movie clips. The director of the video wanted each girl to pay tribute to past movies. Scary Space is paying homage to Mad Max, Baby is in Poltergeist, Ginger is in Casablanca, & Posh is Catwoman in Batman. The video looks random but it isn't, there's a concept to it.

Each girl is portraying a character from different movies: Mel B ( Scary Spice) the girl on the tank , that was based on a Mad Max movie Mel C (Sporty Spice) the one in the red top & black pants was based on Year of the Dragon Geri (Ginger Spice) the black & white scenes was supposed to be an old Rita Hayworth movie called Gilda Emma (Baby Spice) the blonde girl, her scene was inspired by Poltergeist and Victoria (Posh Spice) in the black catsuit was supposed to be Catwoman from Batman Returns Not sure why they did that for the music video other than entertainment purposes, but it's a fun video so I guess it worked. 😄

Love the Spice Girls! I always was Baby Spice (Emma Bunton), she was/is my favorite Spice Girl but I also like Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell) too. I was the demographic they were going for back In the 90s, and a girl and I still didn't get into them.. not because they sucked i just wasn't listening to English music at the time. I got into them recently since I saw a doc on their breakup, and I was intrigued and now consider myself a fan. I wish I would of been in the hype at the time but it wouldn't of mattered cause mom would of never let me see them live. However, the movie I also saw recently qnd it was meant to be campy, which ppl at the time didn't get, critics specifically even though it was supremely successful. I loved it. It was campy and hilarious and I'm gonna have to get the dvd
