I was blessed to have been a part of a homecoming similar to these. My son was in the Army, and had been deployed to Iraq several times, which always made me extremely worried. But one day that worry was changed to pure joy when he surprised us with a visit home ON Thanksgiving Day! The funny part of this day was when he got home he had to hunt me down just to give me that long overdue hug! I was delivering Thanksgiving meals to the elderly, and he tried to find me as I drove around town. But, he finally gave up and went back to the church to wait until I got back to the church! LOL!!! P.S. The hug I got (and gave) that day is still the best hug I’ve ever gotten!! 😊

You should tell him to stop being a soldier. I have 2 dead cousins who wanted to go to military growing up, thinking it would be serving the country. I told them if you want to serve the country, go and be politicians and make good changes! They didn't listen and now they're dead. Worst regrets of my life!

@@Kopie0830 Kopie, I am so very sorry for your loss… Having just lost a son (not the Army son) last year, I know the horrible pain you are feeling. I truly wish I could take that pain from your heart. As far as my other son is concerned, he is no longer in the Army. While he was in the Army he was deployed numerous times. His last 3 deployments were to Iraq. He completed his first 2 deployments, but he never finished his 3rd one. He was seriously wounded and was medi-vac’d to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. He survived, but ultimately he had to leave the Army because he was considered to be 100% disabled. Does he regret fighting for his country? Not at all. I am very proud of him, as I am also very proud of your cousins. They made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me and our entire country. I truly wish they hadn’t died, which is what I have always wished for every soldier. But, I try to keep in mind that because your cousins entered the military on their own accord, they WANTED to fight for their country. They are, and always will be, HEROES. I know this will be difficult to do, but please try to remember the great times you had with your cousins. Please don’t just remember the day that they died. You have a lifetime of memories with them…remember those days. I wish you only the best, my friend.

I was hospitalised for a month and the moment I return home my fur babies were getting so excited of my home coming…..They may not be human being but they were the closest ones to be my family and I truly couldn’t forget that precious moment of us being together 💕😻

Years ago, my brother and his wife lived in California. When my nephew was born, my mom was thrilled. Finally a grandson! (Four granddaughters they loved dearly, but no grandson). Still made her a little sad as we live in Ohio and California is so far way, and honestly too expensive for my parents to go. When my nephew was a year old, the entire family chipped in for my bro and his family to come visit. We kept it a secret. My oldest sister picked them up and dropped them off down the street and came over, as she often did. My brother put my nephew in front of the screen door and knocked and then they hid, so it was just this little blonde boy, the spitting image of my brother standing there. My mom never even bothered looking to see if my brother was nearby. She immediately started sobbing and scooped that boy up! One of my favorite memories, even after 40 years.
