Thanks, nice to see a tutorial video for HAtari on the Pie. Really love the HAtari emulator, and I'm proud to say I am a code contributer. The original developers are really great people and was a pleasure working with them (they even very kindly credited me for my work :D).

That's fantastic. Great to hear from someone who's actually involved in creating these great pieces of software. Thanks.

This is great, thanks! I had an Atari ST back in the day and the emulator works very well on my pi4 and looks fantastic on a 14 inch flatscreen 4:3 ratio (1024 x 768 res) because it fills the screen (no border as per a usual ST). Sound output through the earphone socket on pi and some desktop speakers it sounds good too.

Hi. Sounds like you've got the perfect emulation setup. Enjoy reliving your childhood!
@stephenelliott70712 жыл бұрын
Yes IMO a 4:3 ratio screen (flat screen or CRT) gives an authentic view for retro systems (without black bars on each side as you get with widescreen setups). And with a 14 inch display pixels don't look too blocky :D

While the Music Software on the ST does work with the HATARI emulator (with appropriate monochrome hires settings for some), the problem is that the Pi models have issues addressing MIDI ports attached via USB devices. These would typically be class compliant standard audio/midi devices. I was able to get HATARI to address external MIDI ports on the MAC and PC versions, but no success with a RPi 400.
@BytesNBits2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I haven't tried connecting to midi devices. I assumed the PI would take care of the USB mapping. Let me know if you manage to get it working.

Great stuff. Explains how to add more disks- so I think I will be playing M1 Tank Platoon again soon - still have original disks! For super nostalgia can Emustation drop just into the OS?

Hi. Great to hear you've got it working. Emulation Station is more tailored to autoloading games. I think you can jump out of the game after it starts and get into the desktop that way. Alternatively try the stand alone Hatari.

Is there a way to save state? I click on the 'memory' button on the hatari main menu and try save stating there. But if I try to load the state, it doens't actually load it. Any help here would be really appreciated. Thank you for this video also.

I've put my tos.img file in the bios however when I load a game up I get can not load tos file . Any help appreciated as would love to get this working?
@BytesNBits2 жыл бұрын
If you're using a genuine tos file I'd try downloading from another source in case the one you're using is corrupted. Or try the EmuTOS version.
@TanjoGalbi2 жыл бұрын
You said the Hatari emulator was using the TOS.IMG file from the BIOS folder but if you look at the path it's using the default TOS.IMG file provided with Hatari in the Hatari folder. That is a critical mistake if viewers are following along and instead of adding EmuTOS like you did they installed TOS 1.04 into that BIOS folder renaming it to TOS.IMG they will find that instead of booting to TOS 1.04 it will still be booting to EmuTOS that ships with Hatari! You also do not show where that BIOS folder is from within the emulator so newbies may get confused.

Hi. Thanks for the tips. I've not played too much with the bios settings so I'll check that out.

hey i have a problem, when i start the game it start a computer with disk a , disk b , trash and printer how can i start the game pls thx
@BytesNBits2 жыл бұрын
Is this for all games? From RetroPie it will try to load from the game disk. If it fails it may well crash out the the Atari desktop which is what you're seeing. Check your emulation settings and Bios files and try a few game files.

Lr-hatari sometimes doesn't start, hatari-fast starts ok but the sound is strange when the game loads (has the green icon on the top).When playing it was fine until at some point the sound and the image struggle with stuttering moments.
@BytesNBits2 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen these sorts of issues with Hatari. What Raspberry Pi are you running it on?
@FhargaZ2 жыл бұрын
@@BytesNBits I have the Rpi4 with Hatari updated on January, it says is the last one. Could it be the TOS image? I changed to the emutos one from UK and is the same.

hello please do you know how to get hatari running in NTSC 60hz?
@BytesNBits Жыл бұрын
There is a command line option to set the country code. This will force it into NTSC. Check out the user manual. hatari [options] [disk image | directory | Atari program ] --country Set EmuTOS ROM country code on Mega/ST/STe machines lacking NVRAM, when EmuTOS indicates supporting multiple ones. In 512k EmuTOS images, country code selects the TOS keyboard layout and screen refresh (US = 60Hz NTSC, 50Hz PAL otherwise). In 1024k EmuTOS images (coming with Hatari binaries and supporting multiple languages), country code selects also TOS language. Alternatively, one can use "tos-lang-change" tool from EmuTOS project to modify country code in the ROM image file itself. That works also for TOS v4

@@BytesNBits I've already seen that but I'm running it through Retroarch so how can I launch it with these options with that? I don't know why they don't allow this setting to be changed in the hatari settings screen

You can get USB floppy drives that might allow you to use the real floppies. I've never tried it though.
