I think Wetherspoon pubs definitely vary, and I think you have to discover what your local Wetherspoons does reasonably well and stick to that. I did enjoy this video, you and Becky have such a good rapport, it’s nice to see a brother and sister getting on so well together. You two together seem to exemplify what so many people say about northern folk, that they are so friendly and warm.

My first experience of Wetherspoons, as an Aussie, was the one in Norwich. I thought it was terrific, especially since we were travelling for 6 weeks and on a budget. A lovely building with seating overlooking the water outside. I have been to many more since and it’s still my favourite.

We love a spoons… the rose is very good… I always take a pack of hand wipes to clean the table & cutlery myself… 😂😂😂 was in ours yday… had a couple & then moved on. Ours in Colchester is a ex theatre & cinema… I used to go Saturday morning pics there back in the day… you need to come & take a look… The Playhouse… xx

I've tried a few Spoons in Cornwall - Camborne's is lovely and reflects Cornwall's mining heritage; Truro's is in the old West Briton offices and has photos of printing presses etc. Falmouth is more Art Decco.

Fun fact: I was part of the team that laid the tracks for the overhead cranes to run on they used to build Meadowhall. Myself and another were sent out to site to install fish plates. To do this we had to drill the holes through the track with a diamond tipped big ass drill bit (expensive kit), we burned through a few of those!!!

Enjoyed the video, Im in Worksop so Sheffield pretty near, short ride by train. Lovely to see you and your sister meeting up and having fun. Wetherspoons......on the fence, the menu doesn't change much and the portions are small. But its quite cheap, nice atmosphere. They do a great eggs benedict.

I’ve met my retired work colleagues for years in Spoons, usually in Wakefield which has just undergone a million pound extension and refurbishment and also at The Joseph Bramah in your home town which does actually need a refresh. They have a good atmosphere, the drinks are cheap so great for a lads night out and the food is passable. The two best Wetherspoons that I’ve been in are the Castle Hotel in Ruthin, North Wales and The Royal Hop Pole in Tewkesbury, great beer garden looking out over the River Severn. Now that would be a great video location for you and Helen to visit, great little town with good pubs and lots of history in the area. We use the CAMC site just a behind Tewkesbury Abbey and only minutes from the town and right next to the Tewkesbury battlefield the site of the 1471 battle in the Wars of the Roses.

It's pretty clear that Becky had made her mind up about Spoons long before she'd ever set foot inside one. go into any restaurant on any day anywhere and there's a chance you may receive a below par dish. I visit Spoons maybe once every couple of years and I've never had a bad plate served to me. There needs to be more balance in opinions without lumping things into simply either 'crap or awsome'

Your conversation about specs got me thinking about my last eye test recently and I think they were looking to sell me a 2nd/3rd pair as the optician was trying to convince me to buy some reader's and I just I can lift mi' specs over onto my forehead if I need to read owt! But when he told me there was only a minor change to my sight, I saved myself forking out on another set for 12 months. Esp. when I just got 3 pairs off em' last year! Ba**s to that! 🤭

I have worn glasses since I was 5 and I am now 80,my experience has been it’s a better idea to go to an Ophthalmologist,than an Optometrist,or Optician,as Ophthalmologists don’t sell glasses,they just give proscriptions if you need them.😊

I once ordered a meal on the app in that Wetherspoons only problem was I’d not got my reading glasses on and ended up ordering food and drinks for the other spoons down the road The Bankers Draft. We sat there like numptys for ages wondering where our stuff was. 😂

For me the only thing worth ordering in Spoons food-wise is a pizza because they're cooked fresh. The rest of the menu is all frozen or pre-cooked in plastic bags. You'd think they would at least do some decent chips seeing as they're on half the menu. Bu it's cheaper than pretty much anywhere else and the booze selection is pretty good.

I like the Bull & Stirrup spoons in Chester. I always have chicken tikka masala, which is the best meal, in my opinion. When I visit my daughter in Liskeard we go to the only restaurant in town The King Doniert, which is named after the last king of Cornwall, and is in a beautiful old building.

I can’t comment on Wetherspoons as I live in NYC,but we have places a bit similar,though their drinks are much more expensive, my experience is never order a main as they are bad stick to appetizers,and desserts usually safe here.😊

It does seem to depend on the location with Spoons. I go to one in Bath and it is always busy but not had a bad meal. Other ones I've been to have been terrible. They, like other eateries, suffer from staff shortages nowadays. They do a good job of saving some nice buildings. As for getting to the loos.... I always feel like a lab rat in a maze! expecting a piece of cheese when I finally find it. 😂

Nice town centre for a walkabout. Spoons in George St. Oxford - similar arrangement with a mezzanine floor. Less busy upstairs. Spoon's food differs in quality where you go. Avoid the steak though. Lawd knows where they get their beef from😊

Only one Wetherspoons in Belfast, always super busy as city centre pubs charging £6.50 pt Guinness, lager etc. - cask ale almost non-existent in NI so good to see at it at Spoons for £1.99/pt (£1.79/pt Mon/Wed). Done a few pub crawls around Sheffield over the years when I've visited, has been a while. Always liked the Hallamshire House pub NW of the city centre - they have Thornbridge beers and a snooker table - remember must be 10 - 12 yrs ago getting a 750 ml bottle of this 10% raspberry imperial stout there and getting stuck in - it was superb

I like Wetherspoons as the menu is varied and cheap. You can sit all day with a cup of tea/coffee. Harrogate Wetherspoons are lovely. Lots of their buildings are lovely.

Wetherspoons have won a national award for their breakfast range, for both quality and price (my fave b'fast option being the Eggs Benedict). Their wines offer great value (per bottle) as do the availability of salad/veg side options (ensuring healthy accompaniments to any main meal). Wetherspoons also pays it's fare share of tax, here in Britain and nurtures it's staff. Can recommend: The Castle Hotel, Ruthin (mountain views); The Royal Hop Pole, Tewkesbury (old charm); The Foley Arms, Malvern (Three Counties views); The Catherine Wheel, Henley-On-Thames; The King & Castle, Windsor (Castle views) and The White Horse, Haslemere (Surrey) amongst others. 👍 ✨
