A- is insane. There's no possible way ANYBODY could have done a better job than what Kevin Young has done in his few short months at the helm. What the hosts probably haven't picked up on are all of the organizational things going on that KY has accomplished, absolutely transforming the basketball program. This program now lacks for nothing, and they're recruiting for next year and beyond as if they have every intention of breaking into the upper echelon of not only the Big12, but college basketball overall. What Kevin Young has accomplished in such a short period of time is nothing less than astonishing, and that deserves an A+.

My man, these guys are professional at what they do. They are following over 100 schools and they know the in's and out's of each team as part of their job. I love the homer mentality but we really need to see how this all plays out once they actually get on the court together. I would take a A-now and hopefully be surprised later in the season with a nice run in the conf tourney or NCAA tourney. The Big 12 is so loaded and several teams have made upgrades this offseason as well. These guys are picking BYU to finish 4 or 5 in the conference which I agree with.. Hey, if BYU could get a 4 or 5 seeding in March and get to the Sweet 16 that would be a huge accomplishment honestly. Anything beyond that is pure gravy.....Jeff Goodman knows Ball so I would trust him.

Agreed. KY had done things Mark Pope never was going to be able to do at BYU.

LOL! “The guys they kept were never going to leave. It’s nothing Kevin Young did” Dallin Hall would’ve went to Creighton. Richie Saunders was crystal balled to go to Kentucky. Who knows if Fouss would’ve entered the portal. KY absolutely deserves credit for those retentions.

12:40 BYU signed a new 6’10” recruit from Serbia last week, Mehailo Baskovic who seems to fit the need just described… I believe there was a recruit from Africa, similar height, who as of yet is not on campus but Mehailo Baskovic is on the BYU campus…

Lifetime BYU fan here, I am extremely impressed with the knowledge you all have of so many programs, their players, coaches and program factors such as NIL. I have no idea what this team is going to be like or what they are capable of doing. KY, his assistant coaches and aides are unlike any staff we have ever had, and we have never had players coming in with the acclaim of the new additions.

Goodman nailed this - even without you talking about the new Serbian 6-10 22 yr old they just signed. As a BYU fan, there's no way we thought this could ever happen. What's even more impressive is the coaching staff he assembled that has influence internationally and have coached in the G-league that sets them up for the future. Can't wait to watch this season.

As has been said, Fouss and Knell were the two who likely were never going anywhere. Hall and Saunders were all but gone to Creighton and Kentucky respectively. It was a pleasant surprise when they took their names out of the portal and stayed and it was ABSOLUTELY because of Kevin Young selling them on his vision for the program and for them individually. With the addition of Boskovic, this team is-on paper-as talented as any in the country. But in a one and done environment along with talent you need egos to mesh, shots to fall and a little bit of luck to make a run. Nothing is guaranteed. Ask Kentucky. Finally, in a recent video put out by BYU, Egor himself said it’s pronounced “Yay-gor Dem-in” Thanks for the content!

You’re absolutely wrong about the guys Kevin retained, Dallin and Richey were both all but gone. No one expected them back, all credit to Kevin Young and those are two very high caliber players.

So much talent on BYU 2024/25 no one player can get double teamed!! Any one of 10 or 11 players can do damage to the opposing team. You gotta like that KY has built his coaching squad with specialist experienced coaches as well. Sure there are the big name coaches out there who are legends in their own right and building names for themselves. So much excitement in Utah valley in anticipation of Cougar hoops!!! Cannot wait for the hoop pre-season to tip off. Marriott arena will be going crazy!!!

10:47 Hall & Saunders did enter to portal this year and both received good offers from excellent basketball schools and both independently decided to return to BYU not long after the Kevin Young hire. According to them it was not a given they would return but they are happy to be back.
@calwells56124 ай бұрын
Hall had other very good options in the transfer portal and Pope was trying very hard to bring Saunders to KY. The returning guys are all going to be contributors. Coach Young had to work hard to keep those guys in the fold. It was anything but automatic.

A few of them had great opportunities to leave. Richie Saunders and Dallin Hall entered the transfer portal and had real offers. The others also had some great options if they hadn't been sold on Kevin Young.

Hall & Saunders weren't "baked in." Hall almost went to Creighton and Saunders to follow Pope to Kentucky. Both apparently turned down higher offers.

Well they explained that. NBA guess usually don’t know how to recruit well. KY has already landed one of the top recruiting classes in the country, something that wouldn’t be expected for most NBA guys.
