"Were You There?" BYU Men's Chorus

Sharing the spirit of the Easter season, BYU Men’s Chorus has released new music about the life, sacrifice and grace of Jesus Christ. In this solemn hymn, “Were You There?” the chorus, conducted by Brent Wells, evokes the depths of Christ’s sacrifice, and His triumphant rise from the tomb. "Were You There," arranged by Jamey Ray, originated as an African-American spiritual, and carries a message of hope and redemption.
A new Men's Chorus EP, "He Sent His Son," includes four new songs for streaming/download.

I first sung this as a very very small girl in the 1960s at Catholic school. It remains as beautiful today as then and particularly when sung so well by these impressive young men.

I take issue with worship music that is overly repetitive (it feels a bit brainwash-y), however it can be well don’t when each recycle of the phrase brings a new perspective on what is being said. A building of message with each repetition. This song exemplifies that feeling very beautifully! (Also, a bit of repetitive songs become very irreverent. We’re You There gives reverence to the subject)
