Music and rights : Byzantine
Violence it's the only way for me justify
An aggression that bears no face even exposed to the light
A veiled disease planting IED's under the crescent moon
My Enemy, You are not the conqueror this time
We open pits again
As we pile up the bodies so high
Our sense of humanity is tossed away
As soon as we attain solid visual
Decapitate no matter the age or the tribe
Your cavity of freedom is filled with passivity
In the shadows of human tyranny you undermine
We open up pits again
As we pile up the bodies so high
Our sense of direction is lost
[Guitar solo]
Martyrs, assassins
We mourn and move on as the sun disappears
To dig trenches four Caliphs
Our laws are null you abide to no one
Extremists, no leaders
This genocide will destroy your identity
But it has to be
As you dance on the corpses and wail to the almighty above
In this time of war
Let the moon heal the body, sore
We are forever more
Until the ashes sweep under the door, then you'll know
[Guitar solo]
In this time of war
Let the moon heal the body, sore
We are forever more
Until the ashes sweep under the door
Then you know we're gone
[Guitar solo]
Go forth in the night
You're a compass for us all
Follow what is right
And your stories will be told
Some by force and some by choice
In time you all shall leave me
I do not fear to be alone
Solitary, I will atone
Graves of sand we all are damned
A body count so accurate
We are surgical in our trade
Enslaved you will be trained
Never strive for life unstrifed
We fight out of necessity
This canvas will always be
Chaotic and painted with blood
As we pile up the bodies so high
Our sense of direction is lost

I just saw something cool. A&P reacts made a reaction video to Byzantine. OJ the lead singer from Byzantine saw it and made a reaction video to their reaction video. Then A&P reacts made a reaction video to OJ's reaction video to their reaction video. That's metal inception right there.

I recently discovered this band myself and wow! This just checks off all the boxes for me. Heavy riffs, heavy singing, clean riffs, clean singing, melodic dueling guitar harmonies, you name it! Wish I had known about these guys years ago but it's never too late. Salut, Ruben! 🍷 🤘🏻🖖🏼

Awesome! Good to see someone appreciate this band and putting them out there more for others to hear and make more fans! I know these guys personally and let me tell you, they aren't just damn good musicians but they're damn good guys also. This song is from the bands 5th album called "To Release Is To Resolve" and was independently released. This whole album, just like all the rest, is amazingly good from start to finish. Starting with this album and their new one that came out in the summer, which is called "The Cicada Tree", are with new members. The only original member that's left is the singer, Chris "O.J." Ojeda, who is also the founder of this band. The album that this song you reacted to is on, also had the original drummer, Matt Wolfe, who is NOT shown in the video. That is their newest drummer Matt Bowles, who had just started with them very shortly before signing with Metal Blade Records. And of course just before the release of this video. But they started out with and kept the same line-up pretty much all the way through until just a few years ago when the band split up. The only one that I can think of that got switched was the bass player but that was like right at the beginning. They also first started with a drum machine doing the drumming, just before picking up Wolfe, who was actually a guitar player and is an amazing one at that. But he picked up the drums and played for Byzantine for 16 years. And in my mind, I think he's one of the greatest drummers in metal. Not counting the rest of the band, I think they're all some of the best musicians in metal, the new members and old members. You should really check out their older stuff also, I think you would rather enjoy it. They put out 4 albums with the original members, and every single album is just amazing! The talent they have is just unbelievable! Which like I said, it's the same for the newest members as well. That O.J. has a keen ear for great musicians, he only picks the best. But wait until you hear their original lead guitarist, Tony Rohrbough! This cat is probably the greatest in metal, to me! Brian Henderson, the new lead man, is right there with him though. He's pretty fucking amazing as well! But back in the early 2000's, the original members sent out demos to a lot of well known bands at that time. And one of them happened to be Lamb of God. The singer Randy Blythe actually listened to it and loved what he heard and asked them to go on tour with them and even introduced them to Prosthetic Records and had them signed. Well they started touring with LoG but it didn't last long, as LoG went to Epic Records I think it was, just shortly after. Well Prosthetic sent them on a Europe tour but nothing that really got them out there like they should've been. And Prosthetic didn't do any kind of marketing to help get them out there more either. And also didn't really do anything to help them financially, which caused them to not only struggle but caused a lot of problems within the band as well. They ended up splitting up for some time after that. Actually on the day they released one of their albums, sadly. But they ended up getting back together and putting out another album independently, that was funded by the fans and themselves. Which this album, with this song you just showed, is also a fan funded album as well. Which has made Byzantine even more appreciative of their fans. They care a lot for their fans and do anything they can for them. They'll sit and bullshit with ya forever, if you happen to see them live and get to meet and greet. They'll message you and talk to you on Facebook and call you and give you guitar lessons via video chat and all kinds of things. They take extra appreciation for their fans cause their fans have been VERY loyal and have helped them a lot over the years. They've always been just under the radar in metal, never getting the full recognition they've deserved over the years. Which has sucked cause this is one band that truly deserves to be known. And it's not just because of their unbelievable talent but just because they are some truly amazing guys, like I had mentioned earlier. If anybody deserves to have the finer things that comes along with being a well known band, that sells a lot of albums and gets to see the world and all of that, I swear it's these guys man. Thankfully, after releasing that last album, Metal Blade wanted to sign them and give them an opportunity to do so. I just hope Metal Blade does what needs to be done with this band to get them out there for more people to hear and see them. Which reminds me, these guys are probably thee tightest band I've ever heard live. To me they're as tight as MetallicA or any other well known band that's been together a long time. This whole band is still pretty fresh, considering all the new members, but yet they sound like a band that's been together for a long time. They just finished an American tour about a month ago, in support of Sacred Reich's "30 Years of Ignorance Tour", but they're gonna be touring over your way next year I'm pretty sure. If I was you, I would keep up with them and find out cause I'm telling you, you do NOT want to miss this band live. Which I just happened to think, they have a Facebook page but us friends and fans also have a group called "All Things Byzantine" on Facebook that you should check out. All the members from the band are in it as well. 👍 Hope to see ya there man! Also, you REALLY want to check out their newest album, The Cicada Tree. Talk about amazing! Like the rest, it's damn good from start to finish. Their first release from that album and first track on that album, is a song called "New Ways to Bear Witness", which has ME in the video. Lol. We are in one of the local clubs in Huntington, West Virginia. We are all from the state of West Virginia actually. Check it out though! And check out a few others from that album. There's "Vile Maxim", "Map of the Creator", "Dead as Autumn Leaves", "Trapjaw", "The Subjugated", "Incremental" just to name a few. They also did two cover songs that were amazingly good also. They did a Cars song, "Moving in Stereo" and a Fishbone song called "Servitude." Both have all members but O.J. I'm pretty sure.. Metal Blade has the whole album on their KZbin channel, now that I think of it. You should check it out man! And spread the word of this band, as much as possible! Thanks man! 🤘

Hey Ruben, this was an interesting one! Love the location \m/ Have you thought about checking out "Decapitated - Never" or "Decapitated - Earth Scar"? Some good fresh Decapitated and a few other reviewers have already given their input to those songs so I'm interested about your opinion! Love from Switzerland Ruben, stay metal \m/

Nick Colbert Not necessarily, seeing as there isn't enough information on the incident yet, with exception of a few witnesses' statements in favour of the band. Negative publicity is publicity as well, if we are looking at finances. I'd say we wait and see what happens before we assume the outcome of this situation :) Also, the music hasn't changed because of the current situation so people should still be able to enjoy. Of course I would be repulsed if the accusations are true, but for the time being I strongly advise we regard them as innocent until proven guilty!

Another thing, did anyone else notice the bassist? His style of playing reminds me of Cliff Burton! Fingerstyle, a couple of great crazy bass riffs in there. The whole band seems very talented but that young bass player is something else!

They are all top notch monster players. If you dig it you should go all the back and start at the beginning...you'll be glad you did I promise. This band has slayed from day one and only get better. What's cool is that in the seventeenth year of this band .. the real, real shit is going down right now. Personally I think it should have happened fifteen years ago but...fuck it it's here now.

brian branham thanks for the info bud and I didn't mean to demean the other guys. Obviously all incredible musicians. The bassist just stuck out to me for his actual big part in the song. Too many bands the bass is just kind of "there". Cheers man! 🤘🏻🍻🖖🏼
