Apologies in advance for not including timers, I didn't want them to interfere with showcasing the RenHD hi-res new FXs and textures. Also, it's not like there's a commando difficulty speed WR to beat or anything, as this might be the only one out there.

As much as I love Renegade, the graphics even in 2002 were like 90's level. Westwood seriously made a mistake by using the W3D for an FPS. Also, that cheesy introduction: "We're sending a commando!" Can you imagine that in real-life? "We're pinned down by multiple enemy tanks, snipers, and demolitions!" "Hang in there, we're sending one SEAL/SAS/et cetera!" "...Wat?" Edit: I always loved the second level because it made you feel like you were immersed in a massive battle -- all the aircraft dogfighting overhead, the vehicles being deployed, the missiles and artillery... good atmosphere! :)

@@AJRELLY616 It grew on me as well over the years: I mean, it's a classic now. But at the time in 2002? Yeah, it wasn't a good choice for an engine. Maybe when Renegade was first announced and if it actually were released on its initially announced release date it would've been fine, but when it finally did release after delay after delay, the engine showed its age compared to its competitors. The engine and graphics, combined with low limited the C&C mode was, basically ensured it was a DoA for mainstream gamers. Oh, and by limited, I mean stock Renegade gameplay on maps where it's nothing but a loop, like Hourglass and City, compared to the beautiful maps created and expanded on by the community, such as open terrain/geometry, additional buildings/units to give more tactical depth like in Interim Apex and A Path Beyond, et cetera. As much as I love Renegade, it was a pale, half-baked shadow of what it was supposed to be and what they wanted it to be, right down to the engine, and the blame for that is squarely on Westwood's shoulders.

The game plays through the story without devolving into self parody and dreadful millennial writing, never taking itself TOO seriously. a skill that has been completely lost today. Its clearly a saturday morning cartoon made into a game, which is its biggest charm.

@@Stedman75 Oh yeah, I didn't say I didn't love Renegade, even though it was initially a more serious, closer to modern warfare game during the alphas and betas.

The graphic of C&C Renegade was 2000-2001 at worst, it's not cutting edge for 2002, but definitely not 1990s level. Looking at games of that time that I did play, I can confirm C&C Renegade had better facial animations and graphic than Deus Ex (released in June 2000, lighting was utilized better in Deus Ex however) and at the very least better facial animation than Halo CE (November 2001). It's clearly better in graphic and facial animations than Half Life 1. These three had people speaking like ventriloquist dolls, while C&C Renegade characters were human like in mouth movement and had dynamic eyebrow and eye movement which the three lacked. The big issue I had with Renegade was how limited in physic based movement it was, not graphic. The mistake wasn't in using W3D, but in not optimizing it. C&C Renegade was graphically at a minimum spec for W3D according to Chuck Carter, Westwood's digital artist: - These images are from the successful prototype for Renegade2. I designed and built the level to prove a concept - that the W3D engine could handle a larger amount of polygons than was previously attempted - Renegade 1 was designed around an out dated minimum spec. I wanted to show that by using well designed low poly geometry and limited textures, you could still get a richly detailed environment. In the final demo, the polys were still reduced even further with no real loss of detail. - So if C&C Renegade was at its minimum already as good or better than say Halo CE, it's optimized graphic would be even better, certainly not 1990s level.
