Debussy is a perfect fit for this instrument. I even prefer this compared to the piano version of his childrens' corner songs. I'd love to see more of your interpretations!

Debussy wrote very marimba-friendly. It's a bit like playing a piece on piano that was somehow meant to be for an instrument (marimba) he didn't even know.

@@anjagoller It's hard for me to believe that Dr. Gradus Ad Parnassum wasn't written with the marimba in mind. It just works perfectly. I could say that about a lot of Bach's music as well.

@@KingstonCzajkowskiYeah, some music is just perfect for marimba even though the instrument didn't exist at that time. But concerning Bach: The harpsichord did make a sound of a similar length, maybe that's why it fits so well. Same is with guitar or lute music.

@@anjagoller That's interesting. I was thinking of his violin and cello music - four strings, four mallets. The Bach partitas for violin and cello suites in particular have been adapted to the marimba a million times over. And yes to guitar music - everything by Piazzolla works amazingly well on marimba!

@@KingstonCzajkowski Number of strings doesn't correlate. I think it works so well, because the music isn't dense. There are only a few chords the rest is broken chords, which also works quite nicely on the marimba. As the marimba sound is rich in overtones, you generally need music that is a bit less dense.

L'instrument, pour moi, sonne trop équatorial pour évoquer la neige.. lais quelle belle version !! L'avantage, comparé à la version piano, c'edt qu'on perçoit beaucoup mieux les différentes voix, et on perçoit bien mieux la structure de la composition..

ça c'est parce que plein de pianistes interprètent ça à toute berzingue, avec de la pédale à fond la caisse. Il faut jouer ça de façon bien plus posée et articulée. Cette version au marimba est en effet une super interprétation.
