1:27 This is a tone of a word. We have a tonal sign for read them Ex. ปา ป่า ป้า ป๊า ป๋า These 5 words write in English is "Pa" but These 5 words have different meanings ("Throw","Forest","Aunt",Slang word of "Dad",Another slang word of "Dad" ). 2:17 "Phad Thai" This is a famous Thai food for foreign. It is a one of noodle without soup. there are many ingredient like Tofu , Bean sprout , Egg , Peanut powder , shimp , etc 7:44 That right. we have many word for intead "I" or "me" "Pom" is the most polite if you are a man. But someone use a their name for instead "I". 9:45 Yes you can use only "Mai" because Thai people like to make words shorter already. 10:30 I have already explained to you about 5 tone of a word. "Mai" on a high tone is "Not" but in this case use the highest tone it mean "?" (aren't you) You can learn very fast. fighting !!

Unfortunately, when visiting Thailand, you might not hear your friends use the word "Chun" as frequently as expected. This is because it is considered a formal language and creates a sense of distance between the speaker and the listener. To achieve a smoother and more natural flow, I would suggest using "Pom (ผม)" for males and "Nu (หนู)" for females. FYI "mai" in the middle tone(ไม่) it means "Not" or "No" but "....mai" in the high-level tone(มั๊ย) it means "..... or not" or "is it' ..."

First of all, the “mai” with different tone have different meaning. “mâi” is “no” , but “mái” is what you put in the end of some kinds of question. To answer your questions, about can we just say “mâi” when we wanna say “no”, the answer is yes no. It’s up to what you are replying to. But I would say that mostly we would reciprocate a part of the question adding “mâi” as a prefix. For example, when s/o says something like “Is it ok?” “Is it possible” which is “dâi mái?”, we prone to say “mâi dâi” (no possible - in a direct translation). For the situations where just “mâi” sounds right is mostly when you say it like the reciprocate “no” before saying the full sentence like “no, i cant.” I hope this would help, and wish you enjoy your journey in a hell ride of Thai alphabet haha.
