I found you when you reacted to our girls Dreamcatcher. Now your reacting to our Queen of Cpop Jolin. Wonderful!! Jolin is Taiwanese. But she sings in mandarin. It falls under Cpop. She is a huge advocate for gay rights and has many beautiful songs dedicated to it. My favorite is “womxnly” which talks about a boy who committed suicide in China for being bullied cause he was gay. She also has “Fantasy” which is about all love being beautiful. “Play” is one of her most popular. “I’m not Yours” is a great song that features a Jpop Queen Namie She has a horror base song called “Lady in Red”. So many songs to choose from since she has been in the game for over 20 years.

Everything in this music video is based on Jolin’s own real-life experience. In the beginning, as the judge, she was mumbling, this is a reference to people criticizing her for mumbling early in her career. 2:10 - The photo the prosecutor showed is an actual paparazzi photo taken when she was at the airport not long before this album was released. At 2:41, the food on the plate writes “necessary hunger” Soaking food in the water at 2:45 is a direct reference to a long time in her life when she went on a crazy diet of eating only water-boiled food, she would soak them in water and then wipe them again with a tissue before consuming them to avoid any oil. She said in an interview once that at that time she would fool herself by thinking her food tastes better than anyone else. Mouth measuring at 3:37 - The media criticized her for having a “sausage mouth” which in Chinese means having lips so thick it’s like sausage and that’s seen as ugly in most of Asia. This is also a reference to how people nitpicked her and her desire to be perfect. Covering up in white at 3:51 is a reference to the beauty standards in Asia that pale skin = beauty Making her into a statue of Venus at 3:54 - People, especially the media put her on a pedestal, wanted her to be and look a certain way, she worked hard to look perfect to everyone. The hospital and her outfit in that scene are designed to look like a patient in a mental hospital, this is in reference to a time she was struggling with depression because of all the hate and bullying she received online. The whole freak show part was a reference to a time when she pushed herself to learn a whole bunch of stunts such as pommel horse (7:19), rings (4:06), pole dancing, ribbon dancing (4:16), and many other rhythmic gymnastics for her concerts and music videos. For her Dancing Forever concert back in 2006 (where that blue dress is from), she practiced 3 months for the ring and pommel horse performance only to be criticized for poor performance and being called a gymnast rather than a singer. Haters made gifs as a way to make fun of her (4:19). 4:11 - Being controlled by the public and controlling herself to please the public. 4:32 - She was very thin and beautiful (and still is), but for a long time she struggled with self-confidence and body image, no matter how thin she really was and how low the number on the scale showed, she always felt too fat. The sketch at 4:47 was in reference to a CGI image created by a hater in 2006 after she won the Golden Melody Award(Equivalent to the Oscars but for singers in Asia), to make fun of her saying she looked like a red-fried shrimp with sausage mouth and big boobs. The dress at 4:53 and 7:26 was her red carpet dress at the 2008 Golden Melody Award, again the media made fun of it saying she looked like a cuttlefish or a menstrual pad. She was nicknamed Queen Of Seafoods for years. The measuring tape outfit is another metaphor for how she was figuratively being measured from head to toe on everything. The point where she slaps herself at 6:46 and onward is her coming to realize she’s been trying to please others for far too long, the fat, waitress, and nurse version of Jolin all popping symbolizing her finally embracing her true self, no longer living to please others. 7:11 Throwing up all the negative emojis - no more keeping all the negativity in, no more holding back, break free and let them out, no need to be bound by them. When the judge and prisoner version of herself embrace each other at 7:38, it symbolizes Jolin finally embracing her true self. If you haven’t noticed, in the beginning before the camera zoomed into her head she was not smiling, but when they zoomed out she had a smile on her face, this was to show she is now happy with herself. This whole video is her way of making fun of herself, telling others “this is what I’ve been through.”, and saying "screw you" to all the haters. She mentioned at some point (can’t remember where) that she hoped by telling her story she could bring more people to tell their story as well. At the press conference of this album she mentioned for a long time in her life she was not happy and seriously considered quitting, then she said between tears “It took me 10 years to find myself, I’ve survived, so can you.”
