Remember though the Texans were literately the worse team zero prospects last season. They were the bottom of the barrel both offensively and defensively. The other great QB rookies had either decent or great offensive weapons or defenses. Its with this context is why I think what the Texans are doing is so phenomenal.

Have to disagree strongly with Coach on CJ vs Big Ben. Big Ben was not the reason the Steelers did that well. The team around him carried him through his rookie season until the AFCCG where he got smoked. CJ has completely transformed that offense and he is the reason the Texans are going further than the Cowboys are this postseason. Obviously other players have stepped up and Ryans is a great head coach so far, but Stroud has literally done the opposite of what Big Ben did by being "that guy" immediately.

Ben made a difference that season, he didn’t have godly numbers like stroud but he won us games
@SkyJW15
@SkyJW15 5 ай бұрын
@@MarvyG23 He was serviceable for a rookie. Stroud has been outstanding as a rookie. When you're talking about the rookie QB season that was better, it's 100% Stroud. He's working with far less than Big Ben had and doing more with it, including breaking multiple records and putting himself in a club where the only other members are Montana and Brady. Coach could not be more off the mark trying to make a case that Ben had the better rookie QB season. He's looking at it from the lens of the record Ben had rather than the performance that got him there which wasn't nearly as good as what Stroud has done this year.
@RiccyTBeatz
@RiccyTBeatz 5 ай бұрын
@@SkyJW15serviceable is crazy bro. Please watch Ben's rookie season highlights or somethin. You gotta remember the Steelers were a running team in the early 2000's. Completely different. He also went 14-0 in the regular season in games that he started.
@SkyJW15
@SkyJW15 5 ай бұрын
@@RiccyTBeatz Ben had 2,600 yards passing with 11 TDs to 7 INTs. Those are solid enough numbers for a rookie QB (though the TD-INT ratio ain't great), but it's nothing amazing. Sure, the Steelers were a rushing team, but that's literally my point - they didn't rely on HIM. And, when they needed to rely on him more in the AFCCG, he got absolutely smoked. Big Ben is a no doubt HoF QB, not trying to put him down. But the rookie year Stroud is having is just heads and tails better than Ben's and it isn't even close.
@samh7805

I agree. Stroud already looks like a veteran. He plays like he’s been doing this for 10 years. Look at Nico Collins last 2 seasons vs this season. A great elite qb elevates their receivers and lets them reach their potential, and that’s exactly what stroud has done

The refs did that. The lions lost control at the end of the 3rd and the entire 4th quarter. The lions most definitely got out played and coached. No other team would have gotten away with hold puka the entire 4th quarter and an obvious pass interference, much worse then what was called us! And a hold on the edge rusher? He fell down. Lions didn't deserve this.

You can't discount the coaching of both DeMeco Ryans and Bobby Slowik. Slowick schemed a fantastic game, but he needed someone like CJ to make it work. It doesn't work if there is no CJ - two other QBs on that team while CJ was out and neither could touch what CJ did in that offense. CJ has no fear and believes he can do anything on the field. Stroud averaged 273 yards a game and had 23TD and 5INT. I know the Steelers had a great record with record with Ben, but team wins are a team stat. So...Big Ben had 2 running backs that rushed for more than 800 yards his rookie season. He also had a defense that allowed only 12 points a game. I'd like to think CJ or ANY good QB might go undefeated in that situation. And PIT barely beat the Jets in the first round of the playoffs, despite a couple of INTs from Ben. He threw more INTs against the Patriots in the AFC Championship and lost. Ben: 2,000+ yards, 17 TDs, 11 INTs/CJ: 4,000+ yards, 23 TDs, 5 INTs. Not comparison.

I don't know how much support Big Ben had in his rookie year, but Stroud didn't have big names. His team didn't had a JJ Watt or D-Hop in his prime. In addition, he only had 5 interceptions, while Ben had 12. Then we add the fact that he won a playoff game. What could be argued against Stroud is that this nfl season has been weak, maybe very weak. In his division, all teams had injured quarterbacks, and as a result, they seemed lacking in consistency and occasionally constipated. Still, I say he's the best rookie QB, at least from recent years.

Capernut went to a SUPERBOWL as a rookie I didn’t like him much .CJ s on a young team how do we know how good the other players are around him?He looks great we’ll see some of the deep pass’s he’s getting really good protection.

No, he didn’t. He went 3-5 for 35 yards as a rookie & that was for the whole season. Check down Alex was the starter for Kaepernick’s rookie season & the first 9 games of his sophomore season.

Coach is on drugs. Big Ben had 2600 yards, 17 tds, 11 picks and the best defense in the league. CJ just dropped 4100 yards, 23 tds, and 5 picks. They’re not even close

Mangini has a pathological hatred for mobile QBs. It’s fascinating to watch, and demonstrates why he had such a horrendous record as a head coach.

Stroud went into a woefully disfunct organization with a rookie HC and OC, essentially two rookie WRs, an essential no-name WR in Year 3, a good veteran in Woods, and a middling OL won the division (that isn't bad), boat raced a good/great Browns team (specifically their defense) in Round 1, and looks like they have a legitimate chance to beat the 1 Seed. To say Stroud had the best rookie season for a QB ever isn't really arguable, let alone controversial, when you have an IQ of at least the temperature of your fridge and understand how much context matters.

As a Lions fan I wish we still had Stafford!!!! he is much better than Goff. Goff makes me nervous. He's great when there is no pressure but, when there is pressure he looks average at best. If that run game gets stopped I am very afraid. Stafford can put the team on his back and go get it and has proven it, Goff can't do that. He only got pressured a few times vs the Rams and vanished. The Lions scored 3 points in the second half, a 54 yard field goal. And that backward 2 hand pass to a lineman when he was getting sacked. Luckily it wasn't a turnover . But that's what makes me nervous. Let's go vs the Bucks!!!
