The orchestra for Eurovision 1988 was hand-picked by the musical director of Swiss television (so say the books about the contest) and Nemo performed the orchestral version of his winning song 2025 with the symphony orchestra of his hometown Biel (to be exact the orchestra is employed by the city of Biel and the neighbor city of Solothurn). Anyway both orchestras are great and this Eurovision orchestra of 1988 might be the best of all contests!

Eurovision doesn't mean anything to Cèline because she was already established in the global French-speaking market. She just needed a springboard for her career in English. Just note that during her tours, the setlists for Québec, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium were one and for the rest of the world is another.She not died,people.

NO! It only works for some entries, kills many others: e.g. Maneskin, Baby Lasanga, Kariija, Blind Channel would have been ruined by the orchestra. Plus, it would be a logistical nightmare to organise. I'm glad the orchestra is gone, it sounds so old-fashioned and the only people who want it back are the elderly viewers.

I am a young eurofan. I think that letting the choice for each entry to use or not the orchestra would be the best option. You have the plenty of entries that would have sounded better with the orchestra : that is a fact. Moreover, San Remo uses the orchestra and it keeps being a fresh and modern music festival.
