We finally said farewell to my grandad on Tuesday 19th March 2024. At the reception inbetween various reggae and dancehall hits we'd come to love within the British-Jamaican community this old hit was played. I'd totally forgotten about this song from Celine Dions early years when she sported the chic short hairstyle in 1993. Something that struck me is people often seem to think as Jamaican we just do and love all the things they think are stereotypically Jamaican. Listen to Dancehall, reggae, eat Jerk chicken etc, etc but trust me especially if youve heard how many reggae covers there are of songs and especially if you visit the real Jamaica outside of the resorts you'll know Jamaicans love and are inspired by everything. The summer of 1994 when I was thirteen and watching reruns of the final seasons of Dallas and listening to "The Colour Of My Love" album that I'd borrowed on Cassette from my neighbour's dad.
