I could not keep track of time.
The MuseScore file was created so long ago-back in May 2022-but I reckon that this arrangement took me a total of at least 12 hours.
This arrangement took me 2 years...
I postponed making this duet arrangement because I lost interest and felt intimidated by how difficult it is to arrange full songs.
This took too long.
I don't remember the last time I made a full-song music arrangement. It's rare for me to make full music arrangements on my KZbin channel.
[My Duet Arrangement Comments]
I wasn't sure whether I wanted to make a piano arrangement or a duet arrangement. In the end, I decided to do the latter.
I also decided to upload an instrumental piano version of my duet arrangement because I think this was the main reason I even wanted to arrange this song in the first place.
Anyway, this arrangement is quite proficient.
It's made like a music transcription, but it's meant to fit the piano.
I made sure the tempo and dynamics were accurate. There's also the accented notes, the vocalist's singing, the fermata, and the ambient instrumentals. This was the hardest part of arranging this song.
The only hardest part to perform on this duet arrangement is the bridge section at the end.
At 2:51, I repeated the violin notes because the soundfont I used wasn't able to stretch long enough for its time value.
I used fake musical tie lines to connect the notes, so the notation software doesn't actually register it as a long note.
This is strange, I know.
There are parts of the arrangement where the reach and notation fingering are confusing, so I recommend you read the music score to better understand my interpretation.
I had to manually draw Céline Dion's arm for the KZbin thumbnail as the screenshot I took was too dark and didn't properly show her outlines.
[My Comments]
Eric Carmen passed away in March 2024.
I discovered his song through Céline Dion, but I didn't realize this was actually composed by him until the composer's passing.
I think you can say this KZbin video is also a tribute to his legacy.
I really like this song, along with the inspiration from Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto no.2 op.18.
