Yam Flower Recipe
Yam Flowers are rarely found in most of the parts of Kerala. Yam gets flowered once in a while, which also can be used for making dishes. In this video, a recipe is made with the combination of yam flower and split peas (thuvara parippu) which can be used along with evening or lunch menu.
Ingredients Used.
Yam Flower, in small Peices
Split Peas : 1/2 Cup
Coriander Powder : 1 teaspoon
Garam Masala : 1 tea spoon
Turmeric Powder : 1 tea spoon
Salt : As required
Grated Coconut : 1 Cup
Red Chilly, Mustard and Curry leaves
Mode Of Cooking
Boil Split Peas, Cut Yam Flower, one table of turmeric powder and salt along with half cup if water in a pressure cooker upto four whistles.
Fry grated coconut along with red chilly, coriander powder and masala until the color turns to golden brown. Grind the same mix adding a little bit of water.
Mix them with the boiled yam flower and split peas mix.
Boil them again until the mix changes into a form of thick gravy. Add topping of fried curryleaves, mustard and red chilly.
The curry is ready to serve.

നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടിൽ സുലഭം അല്ലെങ്കിലും മിക്കവാറും പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കാണാറുള്ള ഒന്നാണ് ചേന പൂവ്.
ചേന പൂവ് ചെറുതായി അരിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം ഒരു കുക്കറിൽ അര കപ്പ് തുവര പരിപ്പിനൊപ്പം നാല് വിസിൽ വരെ വേവിക്കുക.
ഒരു പാനിൽ സ്വല്പം എണ്ണ ചൂടാക്കി അതിലേക്ക് ഒരു കപ്പ് ചിരവിയ തേങ്ങയും ഒപ്പം വറ്റൽ മുളകും മല്ലിപൊടി യും മസാലയും ചേർത്തു വറുത്തെടുക്കുക. ചൂടാറിയ ശേഷം ഒരു മിക്സിയിൽ അരച്ചെടുത്ത് ഈ അരപ്പ് വേവിച്ചു വച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ചേന പൂവിനൊപ്പം ചേർക്കുക. വീണ്ടും തിളച്ചു വരുമ്പോൾ തീ കെടുത്തി വറവും ചേർത്താൽ വിളമ്പാം.
