Nice build. I have a similar build in an 1988 Cheyenne and am also in California (Antioch/ SF Bay Area). I pulled out the 5.0ltr and installed a 99 Vortec 5.7, Gmpp tbi intake and Spectre 1 inch space bored to 2 inches. Optimum Fuel Injection Tunable 80lb Hi impedance injectors and ported tbi ( from Affordable Fuel Injection)with manually adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Tre Performance 255lph fuel pump, Pacesetter Vortec Headers, ls6 springs, 1.6 roller rockers, Comp 08-500-8 Roller Tbi Cam, 2200 Stall, 700r4 with TCI Constant Pressure Valve Body, Vette Servo , .490 boost valve, 4.10 Eaton TruTrac and Exel Ring and pinion. I changed my ecm to 7747 and used a Jet Stage 2 Chip for manual trans. Sending Ecm to get EBL Flash by Dynamic Efi.

11.1 compression with iron heads is going to give you detonation that is going to be very bad for your pistons and rods.

Since fuel in these trucks is metered by vacuum and the fuel pressure regulator, i would assume you either have a vacuum leak/a cam that causes low vacuum in the manifold, or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. This one has been kicking about 2 years with the larger capacity pump

About 16psi is good, did you up the fuel pump to a 97 pump? What's your timing at and just how big is this cam?? If you have too much valve overlap and duration youll lose vacuum and the TBI uses vacuum pressure to regulate injector duty cycles so if you dont have a lot of vacuum it'll overfuel and be a dog

Yes this one is running 16psi because that is where i forced it to run stoich at idle and 12.5ish on acceleration using the wideband as reference. The later model fuel pump is not really for more pressure it is for more volume as the original fuel pump will not supply a constant psi after 4000ish rpms. With the original pump the fuel was dropping off and leaning the motor out at high rpms

@@josephdingle14 i see I was thinking about running a 14psi spring on my tbi truck has a 454 with some bolt ons but I feel like it lacks on fuel on higher rpms like you said and i think bumping it up 1 or 2 psi would help more but still debating. Also my truck shuts off at high rpms for that reason if I’m doing donuts

I would do a 15 or 16 psi spring and use the 97 fuel pump. If it needs to pull fuel it will but you will be assuring yourself you always always have enough fuel never starving it again

After that you can put a cold thermostat in it and itll fool it into richening the mixture a bit more as well

A simple LS swap is cheaper. But an LS build to the extent this is done will be much more. Although youd get more power in the end. All in all yes it's worth it. I can roll into any smog shop and pass with flying colors and it has easily 100 more hp than it did stock. Plus all the parts are stout, and i dont expect it to break anytime soon

hey i sent you a message telling u everything i did cam size and in the message i said i up graded everything fuel pump did you read message..the tuner turn the fuel up on the chip he told me to set the timing at 8 degrees i in still hearing a ping noise in my engine at 30mph the engine idles beatiful no power.

Lunati passes smog fine, its all vortec stuff (hydraulic roller, ported vortec heads, 11.5:1 solid dome forged pistons with forged rotating assembly) but with the tbi injection since i am 1991. Only tune is a chip with 97 fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator

I GOT SOME WHAT THE SAME SET UP I GOT A 1990 K5 BLAZER AND REBUILD MY ENGINE THE BLOCK WAS 30 OVER.I DID SOME UP GRADES I HAVE HEADERS 3704 EDELBROCK UP GRADED MY FUEL PUMP EX262 H CAM IN IT TOOK STOCK TORQUE CONVERTER OUT AND PUT 2000 TO 2400 STALL IN THERE I GOT 4.10 GEARS EVERYTHING PRETTY MUST STOCK I SHOULDNT HAVE PUT THEM FACTORY SWIRL PORT HEADS BACK ON THERE I GOT SOME ONE TO DO MY CHIP AND I PUT 18 PSI REGULATOR SPRING IN THERE I THINK I ADJUST IT TO 15 AND I STILL CANT GET IT TO RUN RIGHT I DONT HAVE NO POWER AND I HEAR A PING KNOX IN THE ENGINE MY TUNER THINK HE NEED TO ADVANCE THE TIMING ON THE CHIP..I THINK THE FUEL IS NOT CORRECT..I DONT THINK THAT CAM DONT GO GOOD WITH THEM SWIRL PORT HEADS..TELL ME WHAT U THINK
