great video, anyone can fire up the JT-A after watching your video ;) now this is something I have not seen written down in any of the FGZO manuals but basically, any other diesel engine operator has: first flight of the day on nights below 5 degrees celsius glow it twice before starting. we do that on the DA40's and C172 JT-A at other clubs. altho this won't be an issue from now on anyways with spring/summer ahead!

Thanks for your feedback. I agree this should be written on the checklist. A friend of mine made the same comment last week. Safe flights!

Is cessna using the same on road diesal or red dye diesal?

too bad Cessna dropped them from the lineup...although almost 500k for a 172 is way out of line

@Matt Foster: It definitely is. Our flight club decided to retrofit our four C172SP with Technify Diesel engines. The main arguments were that the older AVGAS-fueled Lycomings with 2000 hours each would have generated more total overhaul/fuel/maintenance costs and conflicts (noise abatement around the aerodrome, LSZK). We're pretty happy with them, although we lost a bit of payload capacities.

With the 155hp and 2100h tbr it has become a decent engine.

great video you should really do the hole checklist with the briefing for this aircraft.

You have to keep the fuel pump on?
@bertrandfilmstudios5 жыл бұрын
@tonoposadasjr: Fuel pump is required for starting. We then keep the fuel pump on during take-off and initial climb (backup pump). The pump is switched off as soon as we reach a "safe altitude". As well, the fuel pump is switched on during approach/landing.

@@bertrandfilmstudios So without the fuel pump, the engine is gravity fed or is there a mechanical pump driven by the engine?
@Ben1232 жыл бұрын
@@bertrandfilmstudios You don’t need to touch the fuel pump with the diesels, they will start up fine without it

Hi Ricky - the club got the cessna in december 2013. The upgrade to technify engines was done in end-of-year of 2017.
